Rate my junior schedule for next year.

AP Language and Composition
AP US History
AP Biology
AP Environmental Science
AP Art History
Honors Pre-Calculus

AP MacroEconomics
AP MicroEconomics

I want to take the last two through CTY since my school doesn't offer them, but I'm not sure how it would work.

This schedule makes me expect a lot of threads from you junior year around semester grading time…

Although I suppose you’ll fair better next year since those courses are just work intensive.

I have a very similar schedule actually.
AP Lang, AP US History, AP Bio, AP Enviro (maybe), AP Spanish, and Trig H.

I’m definitely dropping at least one or two APs though because I don’t want to die.

Does your school district allow skipping math levels? I recommend getting out of precalculus and into AP Calculus through self-study if at all possible. (Well, at least that’s what I did.)

Looks good. I’m currently in ap macro through CTY, and it is sooooo easy.

^^And have the poor kid take six APs?

It’s probably not “college-smart” to take pre-calc junior year, but I can’t handle another AP. Especially if it’s math :/

^^^^
I suppose they might, but I really don’t want to risk it.

I honestly can’t decide whether or not I’m inherently bad at math or just lazy. It seems like whenever someone actually teaches, I do really well, but when we have to learn ourselves, I tank. In any case, I’ll still make it to AP Calculus so I don’t really see it as much of an issue.

@fairy_dreams
Wow, is my schedule really that tough?..

Is it weird that I have two sciences and an elective? (Possibly THREE electives if you count economics as electives.)

I want to take AP Biology before I apply to colleges, but I also want to take AP Environmental so I can have a course with my friends.

^ Mapleleafs26’s Junior Year Schedule:
APUSH
Hon Precalc
AP Lit
Study Hall
Hon. Chem
Spanish

Acceptances so far:
UChicago (in record high apps year, albeit EA)
Colgate

You don’t need to kill yourself if you don’t want. Not a comment so much on OP as general CC population

It’s “good” in CC terms.

I just value sleep and having a life outside of school/ECs. And my friends have been threatening me about my junior schedule because they don’t want to attend my funeral (in their words).

I wouldn’t go that route if you’re expecting all A’s. You’re going to burn out and spend many sleepless nights…

And you do realize that a lot of competitive schools weigh heavily on your 10-12 GPA right? You have to take your 10th grade performance into account and choose your junior schedule accordingly. I’d say that the F and C will not help your case. If I were you, I’d just avoid any further grief and focus on getting my grades and life back junior year.

Realistically, taking too many APs will be an insane move considering your sophomore grades; unless you’re 90% sure that you’ll get all A’s because you know that those courses are easy ones at your school. They sure as hell aren’t at my school :/

Wait, is pre-calculus as a junior really that bad? I thought that that’s routine for most schools. My school does have a special fast track for taking Calculus as a junior, but I see no point in that since I DO NOT want to take Statistics because the teacher is one of the worst teachers at my school. There’s like four As in a class of 30, the rest are Bs, Cs, and a handful of Ds.

Pre-Calc is routine for almost all schools; you’re correct. I think your schedule will be extremely manageable. Two sciences is good, imo. lol, I had 4 out of 6 of my classes were humanities based this year as a junior. :P

Good balance. Not insane at all. But still challenging appearing. Probably a 6.5 on a scale of 1-10.

Only thing lacking is difficult math, but Precalc is pretty average so you’re fine I suppose. And lack of World Language might be bad. AP Bio and Ap Env. Sci are both AP Sciences, but definietly the easiest of all of them. Overall, nice balance and looks like you’re not exceedng yourself beyond your limitations. :)

^
I’m taking Spanish at the community college over the summer so it doesn’t screw up my GPA. We don’t have Honors Spanish.

What do I need to do to make it a 9/10?

See Lawlz’s junior schedule. Or his sophomore schedule for that matter.

Your schedule looks pretty hard, but doable. Well, not hard, but challenging, competitive.

How’s my schedule?

IB Physics SL = AP Physics
IB English HL - Year I = idk, AP English Language
IB Math SL = PreCalculus, I take AP Calculus AB after that
IB History HL - Year I = APUSH
IB Spanish SL = AP Spanish
Orchestra
Science Research

OK, this is sad. I’m taking 5 academic classes, and you (OP) are taking 6 in school plus 2 online.

@fairy_dreams: What is my rating out of 10?

I can’t really drop Orchestra and take an IB, mainly because my school doesn’t offer any other that I’d want to take. And I’ve been playing the violin since 3rd grade, so it’s kinda important to me.

Drop Orchestra + take an IB - Orchestra is a useless class.

^^Sorry, I have no experience with IB courses :/

Should I take Academic Decathlon independent study, or it not worth it?

We won’t win anything.

Hey, I was wondering, am i insane for taking these classes next year (senior year) ,lol?

IB English HL
IB History HL
IB Math Studies SL (easy class so I’m not worried)
IB Chemistry HL
IB Theory of Knowledge
Honors Physics
Honors Calculus (maybe AP if they’ll allow me to kind of self study - I only can’t take AP because it’s 1.5 credits and I only had room for 1)
Civics (have to take it to graduate)

@arsenalcrazy - Are you sure you can handle IB Chem and Honors Physics? Many scienc-y students take IB Chem and IB Physics at my school the same year. Other than that, it’s fine. IB Math Studies is a joke. At my school its known as the “a squared + b squared = c squared” class. I’m sure you can do Calculus with it.

Does it look really bad if your high school offers 2 APs senior yr and you take none?

@ncm:dont drop orchestra if you dont want to. + some colleges require a certain # of years of electives
