Sophomore Year (10th Grade) (I have a feeling it's "weak" compared to CC standards)

So, rate my schedule - 1 being pathetic / a joke to 10 - incredibly difficult / impossible feat

Honors English 10

Honors Latin II

Honors Chemistry I

Honors Algebra II

AP U.S History

Honors Foundations of Law (1/2)

Honors Forensic Sciences (1/2)

Directed Study Period (unleveled, 0 credit)

Sociology and Psychology (Duel Enrollment at UMASS)

Is only 1 AP pretty crappy? I mean, I read posts by students who take 4 AP courses Sophomore Year, however, my school only allows Sophomores to take 1 AP course, and Freshman can take none.

Well, I would but its hard to compare your school to mine because they’re completely different. It really depends on your school. At mine, we aren’t allowed to take AP(or most honors) classes till Junior year and people usually don’t take more than 2 AP’s Junior year and 3 or 4 Senior year, but they still get into competitive colleges. Maybe that’s because our school is nationally recognized or something, I don’t know. So I personally am taking no AP’s and 1 Honors this year(I’m a sophomore) and 1 AP and 2 honors next year.

So… if your school doesn’t allow you to take more than one AP sophomore year, don’t sweat it. Colleges will recognize that. Plus, don’t kill yourself. Stay balanced and don’t overload your schedule. It’s really not worth it to stress yourself out and lose sleep over a silly thing like college admissions. Just have fun in high school and take the classes that you like.
