What’s the best dorm for a premed student? I like foothill because I like the idea of a suite, but I’m worried that it may be too far from my classes…

just walk .

wolfer91, Foothill has a great location. It will be close to many of your require premed courses.

How “new” is Unit 1? Same condition as Unit 2?
I visited Unit 2 on Cal Day, but Unit 1 was too crowded.

I visited Clark Kerr on Cal Day (yesterday). I am not impressed. Sure the rooms are big and there are nice open spaces outside and the campus is very peaceful but it seems to be very quiet. Plus the “commons” room is a complete joke. It contains a few chairs and a table and the room smells very dusty and old. Oh, and the halls are quiet.

I also visited Unit 2. It seemed to be very lively compared to Clark Kerr. Also, The rooms are not bad, they are only maybe a feet smaller than the rooms are Clark Kerr.

BTW the walk to Clark Kerr isn’t actually bad. The hill you walk up is not bad and it flattens out the rest of the way…

^ CKC is hilarious. It’s either study-hardcore or play on a varsity/club sports team the times I’ve been there.

Damn, I shoulda visited Unit 2.

so…basically social atmosphere, noise level, etc. at each unit depends on the people on your floor, correct?

which dorm would be closest to my classes if i am in l&s pre-haas?

How is a foothill QUAD “quiet”.

blue: depends on your roommates. if they study 24/7, i’d imagine it’d be pretty quiet.

can you request studious roommates in a social hall (Unit 3)?

still, i can’t believe quads can be quiet

i think there’s a very specific quiz or something to match you with people really similar to you?

not 100% if i heard that’s at berkeley or some other school.

lol there is a quiz like that, but you’ll still have a 50/50 probability of ending up with a semi loud to loud roommate.

blue: hell an entire floor in the Units could be quiet if enough people are in their rooms studying and whatnot. the only sounds you would probably hear are keyboards and mice clicking.

Units have smaller rooms though. But would you say the extra cost of Clark kerr or foothill suites are worth it?

^Bowles/Stern have larger rooms than the Units and cost about the same.

That is a tough question, but I (personally) would say yes.

“Most floors are coed with one large coed bathroom per floor.”

i read this description of unit 3 and was wondering… should i be worried about hygiene sharing a large COED bathroom?

hey guys. i was doing a little research on dorms and found this:

A janitor cleans the bathrooms everyday, which I bet is way more than the average household bathroom.

You better watch out in the brooms. I heard you can get pregnant by sitting on the toilet seat. ;p

is the extra cost worth it? as an incoming freshman, i would say no. and foothill dc is become a la carte next year… like really? it’s such a bad idea. don’t even bother thinking about freshmen 15 in foothill or bowles as long as you just walk to your classes. hell i always start laughing when my roommate walks into the room panting/breathing hard.
I will say this though, if you like having some space to move around, then foothill/ckc may be the better place for you. You can pull off some spectacular spider man moves in the hallways of the units, while hall sports can be done in foothill. hahah (though you’re not allowed to play technically…)
