in no specific order here are the schools I'm applying to in either accounting or marketing which one is going to yield a more steady income starting out ? Because eventually I want to get an MBA in marketing

1 Loyola University at Chicago
2. UIC ( University of Illinois at Chicago )
3. Depaul
4. Olivet Nazarene University
5. possibly IU bloomington , but doubtful since I'm outta state ...
By the way I'm a IL resident
also if I'm taking accounting I at high school next year for dual credit should that give me a better idea if I want go into accounting or marketing ?
I've seen the entry level for marketing isn't too high , but I'm not sure about accounting

Accounting has probably the highest average starting salary of all business majors. It is pretty close to finance. Marketing is near the bottom. I don’t know anything about salary increases for marketing.

Taking an accounting class did nothing for me but make me think that accounting is boring. Now I’m somewhat biased. I don’t know what taking the class will do for you.

Accounting is definitely steady and pretty high starting out..probably lower than MIS and finance on average but not much lower.

I definitely like your idea of returning for your MBA to get into marketing. You will be making a good deal of money at that point.

However, I wouldn’t sacrifice current happiness for a temporary higher salary. I don’t know the actual differences at the schools you are applying to, but I know at some good schools the difference in starting salary between marketing and accounting is about 8k a year. If you are thinking of working for 3 yrs prior to getting your MBA, this would amount to 24k (prior to the govt taking out a ton). This sounds like a lot, but you have to consider that accounting will be your life for 5 yrs (at least your last 2 yrs of undergrad, and 3 yrs of work). This is fine if you enjoy accounting, but is not worth it if you really don’t like it much…especially considering you’ll be making six figures when you graduate with your MBA (from a top 20 school) and at that point both the accounting and marketing salary that you could have had out of undergrad will look quite paltry to you

up we go rate the schools for business please tell me which school opens doors for me …
