I'll bite:

Cornell is definitely the most well known and prestigious.

Lehigh is not as well known amongst the general public but it's well thought of and fairly highly regarded for engineering.(And I think business?)

Villanova University students are well thought of in the Philly area. Great sports, social scene, a great choice of school if you're going to stay in the local area.

Next come a handful of schools that the private/prep schools are pushing their kids to consider in the face of population bulge/mass ivy lust:

Elon, a once decent enough regional school populated by well off, not brillant daughters/sons of the south has become the 'secret' gem almost everyone has discovered. Gorgeous campus, great travel abroad programs and the assurance that money attends has made Elon a safe place for midatlantic rich kids who feel they may be locked out of north eastern schools.

Gettysburg, lots of rich white kids(almost 90 something percent white), mostly conservative. Like Elon, I would bet their SAT scores are going to rise as kids are being urged to look beyond the usual suspects.

Franklin and Marshall, this should actually IMO be ranked above Elon and Gettysburg. Kids here have always been serious about their education and are very, very preprofessional. One of my son's friends who has always been 'most likely to go to Harvard'(gifted programs, grades skipping, perfect scores, prep school pampering....and in spite of all this has become a remarkable kid:) ) has no intention of checking out any of the ivies.(well, maybe Princeton) Franklin and Marshall is high on this kids list.

Muhlenberg, last on the list for safe schools for prep kids. Pretty campus, preprofessional, this seems to be the place where kids who needed tutoring but worked hard and wanted to succeed are steered to. Very nurturing.

Dickinson, I almost want to put it in the above list but haven't heard any of my friends mention it. I can tell you that three of the best lawyers I know got their start at Dickinson.

The rest:

Widener University is more well known of the rest. They advertise heavily but I don't know if they belong on any usual ranking. The University is geared towards adult working students. They also sponsor the very popular, very intellectual Philadelphia Speaker Series at the Kimmel Center.

Centre College

Grove City College
