<p>Does your school typically send kids from AB calc to multivariable?</p>

<p>Most places require BC (BC calc is calc 1 and calc 2. AB calc is calc 1 and a tiny part of calc 2) to take multivariable calculus (which is calc 3).</p>

<p>If you’re really talented in math and learn best independently, you can try it. But remember that a strong foundation in calculus is going to be important for multivariable.
I’d personally recommend studying BC in that case, or at least get a review book and skim stuff about series and whatnot so you can get a feel for it.</p>
