Rate your college experience as a whole.

This year, I am still commuting to the local neighborhood college, albeit as a sophomore this time around. It still sucks, but not so much as it did last year because I have finally developed routine that I like. I've also cemented some friendships here and there, and I am doing academically well. I even applied for some high-end internships (like GE's FM program) and maybe if I'm lucky, I'll get a call for an interview within two weeks.

Home isn't bad either. My parents cook all my meals and perform all sorts of other auxiliary services on my behalf.

Anyways, I would rate my college experience as a whole as thus:

Academics: A-
Social Life: C-
Living Situation: B
Overall (not an average): C+

So, how would you guys rate your college experience so far? Also, please use the following format to submit your response:

Well I’ll give my month rating. haha

School: University of Michigan
Year: Senior (second year, transferred from CC)
Academics: B+.
My program is one third general eds, one third distribution, and one third major courses. So the vast majority of my study has NOTHING to do with my major, which is lame.

Social Life: B+.
It is ridiculously difficult for transfer students to manage socially, but I appear to be emerging as a reformed social misfit. So that’s nice!

Living Situation: A+
I live in a BEAUTIFUL dorm with a private bathroom (with bath tub), hardwood floor, AC, wireless, beautiful lounges, a steinway piano, a kitchen with a tv room, a private exercise room, an amazing residential community program and no boys allowed to come in and stink everything up. :stuck_out_tongue: Male visitors are allowed 24 hours a day but all residents are female. Perfect for me.

that’s no dorm that’s a damn hotel

School: Maryland
Year: Last year was uh, messy so let’s just say Freshman to be simple
Academics: A, I really like all of my classes
Social Live: C (should get better as the semester progresses)
Living Situation: B+ (live at home, but it’s in a fun neighborhood, commute’s good, but I’d rather be on my own)
Overall (not an average of the above): B-, ideally I’d be living on campus but in a nice dorm (like Emaheevul’s :P) not the ****ty high rises that Maryland has

It is one of THE most unpopular dorms on campus, too, just because it’s all female. It’s literally across the street from the center of campus and most class buildings, too. I’m quite pleased with myself for having found it!

Lol that’s a stupid reason to not like the dorm. Hell I’d probably stay in an all-gay-male dorm if it was that nicely built, anything’s preferable to the public housing-like stuff they put most freshmen in at UMD.

School: U of Florida
Year: Freshman
Academics: B+
Social Live: C+
Living Situation: B
Overall (not an average of the above): B-

Its only been 5 weeks so hopefully my social life will get better.

LOL at the C ratings for the party schools in here.

lol, for me it’s cos I’m a commuter. It’s a lot harder to get into the party scene when you’re not living with a bunch of people who say “hey guys let’s go to the party that’s a seven minute walk away!” :P

Do you know anyone that goes to the school? When I was a commuter there wasn’t much of a social scene to begin with because it was a CC, but I had no problem going to parties at other nearby colleges. But I knew people at those schools to go with.

School: Virginia Tech
Year: Recent Graduate
Academics: B+
Social Life: A+
Living Situation: C first two years, B last two
Overall (not an average of the above): A

@Ema I’m getting to know them.

You’ll get there, then! Maybe this could even turn out to be a good thing, if you can’t just stumble on home to the dorms after a party you have more of a reason for buddies to have you stay with them, which gives you more opportunity to strengthen friendships and meet new people. I had a fairly large group of friends at the college I “adopted” when I commuted.

School: Bryn Mawr
Year: senior
Academics: C on campus, A off campus
Social Live: B
Living Situation: C on campus, A off campus
Overall: B

I gave two academic grades: the first for academics at Bryn Mawr and the second for academics at Haverford, Swarthmore and Penn, where we are allowed to take classes thanks to a cross-registration agreement.

School:Maryland
Year: Sophomore
Academics: B- (Orgo :frowning: )
Social Live: A+
Living Situation: A- (Got out of the high rises DC was talkling about and now have a single room on south campus no air conditioning though)
Overall (not an average of the above): A

Year: senior
Academics: C
Social Live: C - every since I moved into my apartment I’ve been sneezing and my noise has been running. I deduct either it’s the body soap I use or the dust from the carpet. Yuck.
Living Situation: B
Overall: C

Most kids in my department either go into social work or the police force. Both respectable career paths, but the curriculum caters to them, as do the faculty. I hope to pursue a doctorate sometime in the future. The only students that receive special attention are the honor students - the opportunities to enhance one’s resume for graduate school is limited to them, which sucks because I’m not in the honors program.

School: Indiana University
Year: Freshman
Academics: B+ I’ve been enjoying my classes for the most part, but there are a couple that are obviously blatant attempts at weed-out courses for the school’s top majors and these classes are obviously unfairly difficult. Otherwise, school is a nice challenge and it’s keeping me on my toes as opposed to high school where I was bored and just didn’t care.
Social Live: A- I am never bored really, there is ALWAYS something to do here. If there’s one thing I’d change, it’s the huge party culture of the school, but that’s kind of inevitable. The great thing is that I can party one night and then choose to stay in and watch a movie the next. There will always be someone who’s willing to do one or the other.
Living Situation: B- My floor is fine, but they’re not people I can see myself being best friends with forever. They are kind of clique-y and I’m more on the outside of the clique, even though we all get along well and I hang out with them a good amount. But I’ve found a lot of my close friends in classes and such.
Overall (not an average of the above): A- I’m pretty satisfied so far. It’s really stressful at times, especially because I want to do as well as I can academically, but I’m learning more about myself and other people every day. I have no regrets at all.

Year: First Year, Freshman
Academics: B+ Some are a bit annoying, but I picked my classes knowing what I was getting into.
Social Live: A. I’m on crew team and involved in intervarsity. I’ve got a lot of people I can see myself being close with.
Living Situation: A- Our rooms are nice and clean, and my roomie isn’t a bad roommate.
Overall: A

School: Case
Year: Junior
Academics: B+. As much as I love history, some of the Prof’s are dull beyond belief. Limited course selection because the Poli Sci and Hsty departments are tiny and underfunded.
Social Live: A+ Always something to do, always people who want to chill/party/go out
Living Situation: A Living in an okay apartment, but it’s close to campus and is close to all of my friends who live off campus. Free parking. The apartment is not somewhere I’d live after college, but I love my roommate so it makes up for it.
Overall: A, can’t imagine going anywhere else.
