I was just going through all the viewbooks I collected throughout the year, and I must say, their quality is very different. What were some of the best/worst viewbooks you had from colleges this year and why?

Best was probably Amherst, just liked the paper quality..worst St.johns.

I loved Middlebury's--absolutely beautiful.

WILLIAMS

very clever and entertaining :D

I find it interesting that all of you said LACs had the best.

University of Chicago's viewbook was amazing, as was MIT's. The photos were absolutely breathtaking and quirky!

Yay, I love viewbooks! U Penn's was packaged pretty amazingly. I loved Columbia's too, partly because it had the tearout middle section with all the basic facts and partly because of the sweet photos and stories. U Chicago's was really cool too.

Before applying NYU sent me this thick book thingy that looked pretty expensive.

I second murkywater. The UChic book is really well put together. They put a new spin on it, as it's portrayed as more of a storybook. Lots of cool pictures and nice layout design. Seriously, if you haven't seen it, I recommend signing up to UChic's mailing list (they don't bombard you with mail, either -- I've only gotten this from them in the past few months).

Really? U Chicago sent me postcards for years. One of them was a coloring contest and I finished it and forgot to mail it. Then there was lots of "here, give us an intriguing question" things. I kinda wonder if I would've gotten in, rather than being waitlisted, if I'd been an active participant in all those mailings.

Probably not (I doubt they keep track of it).

Amherst, I think....spiral-bound and shiny lol
NYU's brochures were pretty good too...I don't know I got so many brochures there's literally a box of them sitting in my garage.

Oh UVa had a pretty nice viewbook.

well now that i think about it, my top two schools had the best viewbooks.
Middlebury's featured such appealing pictures that i applied to Discover Midd thinking that i would at least get to see a VERY pretty part of the nation.
UChicago's just FELT intellectual. and it was nice to see real life.

beloit's came with stickers of random words, so that was cool!

Reed's viewbook is awesome! although I was not very acquainted with the college before, the viewbook accomplished its task of letting people what a great place Reed is

I disliked Northwestern's and Johns Hopkins' because they were so large that they did not fit in my file cabinet. Stupid, I know. I really liked Penn's as well, the box that surrounded the actual viewbook was a nice touch.
