My Ranking

1) ERC, Muir or Warren
2) Marshall, Sixth
3) Revelle

Reasoning:

1) ERC: Emphasis to go abroad + new, excellent dorms (+ more women than men by a good deal) makes this choice a killer combo. Distance from everything except Price Center shouldn't factor too much, theres a good shuttle system going around the campus both ways all the time.

1) Muir: The most social, the easiest GEs, decently close to Price Center. While their dorms are not wonderful, and the setting is rather dark (no buildings made of wood, mostly concrete), it has many benefits.

1) Warren: Excellent Dorms as good as ERCs + 50% of people get singles + relatively light specific course GEs + overall GEs that benefit doing a minor + very close to Price Center + what I believe is the prettiest part of campus makes Warren a great deal. It seems to be the most underrated here on CC. Don't buy into "swarmed with engineers" talk; its the most populated college, with its variety of everyone. Sure, they're there, but its not hard to find your place among so many people. Best possible alternative for those who don't buy into the smaller communities idea of the colleges.

2)Marshall: It does have that restaurant that is open at all hours, but there seems to be a real lack of other benefits for living there. Dorms aren't all that special, GEs a bit of the standard, location no better than Muir or ERC for the most part. Its not so much that Marshall is bad; its more that you can go elsewhere and gain more benefits.

2) Sixth: Easy GEs, good. Emphasis on technology, cool. Many I've heard consider it the most unlike the other colleges in their 'feel', a more lax, cooler feel. However, they lose out in my mind with dorms that many say feel straight out of summer camp. Camp Snoopy? No Thanks.

3) Revelle: Oldest region of campus, farthest from Price Center, I'm not sure how selection of dorms go, but I know at least one of their buildings is one to avoid. Hardest GEs. They have the stigma of being the 'smart kids' on campus supposedly. It really lacks any real benefits, at least none I've heard of.

Location was never much of a factor for me at least. I've never actually liked the idea of rolling out of bed, walking a few feet, and entering class. Seems rather gross to me......I'm in San Diego attending college with other brilliant people my age all around me, why would I want to hide away in a small corner of campus..... However if you're set on doing so, check out where the classes for your major are held.
