I'm currently having a dilemma on where I should stay for the Summer B term, so I've narrowed it down between Rawlings and Beaty Towers. I don't really care much about the room type because I can accept living in a traditional dorm or an apartment. What do you all think about these two?

id go with beaty. i think its best suited for freshmans.

Okay. Any other ideas?

the best location is murphree (where i live!)

I would definitely suggest Rawlings. I live in Rawlings now and I know someone who lives in nearly every dorm. Beaty is apartment style a Rawlings has a better location along with being more social.

The Murphree area all the way! But if you’re firm on Rawlings, or Beaty…it really depends on what you want. Beaty has a kitchen, and is apartment style. There are two rooms with two people in each room. It can be a bit more antisocial because it’s apartment style. You only share a bathroom with a few people. Rawlings on the other hand is a traditional dorm, and usually very social. I would recommend it because it’s cheaper, and in a pretty good location. If you have a meal plan during Summer B, you’ll love the location because it’s only 2 minutes away from the Fresh Food Company dining location.

@Dracos thanks for the advice I’ll consider that. Now because I’m going for the summer b, how do they select my room based on the preferences I selected?

Np. There are certain dates (depending on when you submitted your contract) where you should be able to go online through the housing portal and select your own room. Try going to the housing portal to see if it says when. Housing.ufl.edu

And anoter thing…Murphree is my second choice.

Murphree is a pretty awesome place to live. Again, I’m a little biased because I’m an RA there lol. It really is an amazing location, and convenient to most of what campus has to offer. It will probably be very close to most, if not all of your classes.

I hope that’s the case

Rawlings or Murphree all the way. The most important thing or one of the most important things you take away from college are friends.

Rawlings and Murphree are so much more social than Beaty - much better location to be in the middle of things and meet people.

I’ve been in Beaty - in my opinion people paid more for less. Who wants to get stuck in a shoebox in a highrise waiting on elevators? It feels sterile. I don’t even like the air. It’s just recirculated among about 10 floors. How healthy is that? Someday they are going to have a Legionnaires Disease problem - you heard it here first.

In terms of price, I see Rawlings as better, but looking at the map in terms of proximity to classes, I’d personally go with Murphree
