Rd- 2013

Was denied from Binghamton. Knew it was gonna happen. I was wondering if any of you heard of bing advantage and why all the dumb kids (for lack of a better term) got it. I wouldn’t consider doing that program… but why did kids who failed regents exams, have lower gpas, and lower SATS get offered that program instead of me with above 90 except on all regents, above 90 gpa and 1160/1880 (i know this is what got me denied). I can’t help but to feel like these kids are going to graduate with a binghamton degree as long as they keep up a 3.2 gpa at broome community college. Also… I called Geneseo up 2 days ago and expressed interest. Man said they had not started accepted people yet off waitlist (Which is a lie but I just went along with it and decided not to burn any bridges). He said my phone call will help. I don’t know if I will like Geneseo though since it is very small and I was accepted into albany honors which is in a bigger city with more opportunities. But, I will look at Geneseo and consider it if I get in. Sorry this is so long!

Anybody know where I can find my username and password? I think one is required to complete the housing forms but I am not sure…

Just got back from Geneseo. Spent 2 days and attended the Parent Reception and preview day. It was a wonderful event. All the admission staff were around to answer questions and help! It was a great program.
I did get alot of time to talk to students while I was on campus. Students who were just waiting on line at starbucks or on line at the book store. These kids love it there. Every student there had wonderful things to say.
I am pretty sure this is where my daughter will spend the next 4 years. She loved it. Only thing left is to send the deposit. I think reality is hitting me and Im so sad to see her go but I do have faith that Geneseo will give her an amazing education and a wonderful experience.
I just wanted to share this very positive experience. Good Luck to all still making your final decisions!

GCmom415 - Glad to hear you had a nice time. You will find that the love for Geneseo doesn’t end after graduation either!!! Best of luck!!!

Hello GCMom415,

We were there yesterday as well, although we didn’t do the overnight. We were once again very impressed with our visit. The whole staff seems to be really on top of things and yet very down to earth. Our son loved it as well and I think he got a very positive vibe out of the students he was able to talk with both during their lunch and also at the break out session. He even bought some Geneseo Apparel at the “The Geneseo Store” on Main Street. Our guide clued us in that they had much better prices than the Book Store. Very impressed with the Physics department as well. We will still do our final tour of U of R on the 15th, but I am 98% sure he will be joining the Geneseo class of 2017. Very exciting. Our other son will be attending Ithaca College. We are very pleased with both of their choices. Best of Luck to you and your daughter, and to all the other accepted students.

Good to hear JEdad…Ithaca must be nice…alot of the parents had it on their list of colleges. Congrats to your other son! Very exciting about your son possibly accepting at Geneseo! My daughter also picked up a sweatshirt and wore it to school this morning. I guess she has decided. She also bought a mug for her chemistry teacher who wrote a teacher rec for her and has a daughter there doing pre- med. Pretty exciting! Oh by the way I went to Aunt Cookies sub shop on Main Street. Looks like nothing but I loved the sub there and I am very picky with my food in general.

yes - although it’s not a metropolis, the main street is very nice and active. I think the location was also a plus for my son. He’s not thrilled about being in a big city.
