Acceptance rate actually increased (likely due to slightly less applicants) from 23.5% admitted to 25.6%. UW GPA increased from A- to A/A- and the SAT range is 2020-2270. Pleasantly surprised to see 39% are students of color, so Vassar’s definitely working on increasing its diversity!
@sammythang1234 Thank you for sharing that information! How did you find those stats?
If you are an accepted student, it shows up on the Class of 2019 portion of your decision letter. Click that link and it will take you to these stats.
Accepted! I am in absolute shock, my standardized scores suck literal ass
Waitlisted. Thought I had a good shot at getting in, but I also didn’t really do anything to show them my interest. Good thing I have a solid backup plan
Decision: Waitlisted
I’m feeling pretty down about this—I was super excited about Vassar. My family has had a connection to Poughkeepsie for generations, and I really wanted to be close to NYC because my girlfriend may be going to school in the city. I’ve also already gotten acceptances from statistically tougher schools, so this came as a crushing surprise.
Don’t count your eggs before they hatch.
S accepted. So excited!
Accepted! Absolutely cannot believe it. I remember a chance me thread where someone told me I had no chance because of my 30 ACT, and look at me now. Feeling so blessed
Waitlisted, along with everyone else apparently.
Accepted
2380 sat/34 act
APs: two 5s and a 4, taking 5 this year
Top 10% GPA
Two varsity sports, 150+ hours community service
Sub par leadership
Have confidence recs were fantastic, essays above average
I’d post a more complete thing but doing this from my phone, and others don’t seem to be doing that either.
Anyway, congrats to all accepted… And to those not, it’s true that if you push yourself you will most likely be rejected at least once… I have been already, and probably will be again.
For anyone reading this that has yet to go through the process, push yourself!! At the end of junior year, a school like this seemed like a reach to me… In the end it was attainable
Why do you guys think you were waitlisted?
My GPA is 4.0, SAT 2320, few APs (all my school offers), few ECs like NHS, math club (mostly working because I’m poor as dirt and ~1500 hours volunteering/tutoring), and my essay/recs were good. Since my family’s EFC is 0 and I’m a DACA student (undocumented to an extent) I think Vassar didn’t want to pay for another “Asian” (I’m Guyanese)
Rejected
Accepted!!! Oh my goodness, I am so excited. Definitely my first choice, I’ve been in love since the visit.
I’m so sorry for everyone who was rejected or waitlisted, best of luck with other schools.
Stats:
SAT: 2160 GPA: 4.40/4.00
ACT: 34 Class rank: 1/44
Major: history
ECs: directed a play, co-founded a theatre troupe, on board of directors for a museum, lots of theater shows, VP mock trial, aerial silks performer
Hooks: URM, live in town of 500 people
So does anyone know when financial aid comes out? That’s (sadly) the deciding factor for me unless somehow I get a huge scholarship.
Accepted for English!! 31 ACT and 4.2 GPA (4.0 UW) but really strong commitment to ECs regarding my major.
Like ^, financial aid will be a deciding factor. I’m so stoked (!), but am still waiting on a few more schools.
Waitlisted!!
Vassar is one of my top choice schools. I have been rejected by other colleges like Colgate and Lafayette- so I was pretty surprised to see the decision. I have good SAT,perfect SAT II s, 4.75/5 GPA and good ECs. So, I think either the essays, or the huge amount of aid could have played a factor!
What do you think?
I don’t think stats were a big thing in the decision honestly and more about fit as no other Questbridge finalist was accepted that I know of and many have near perfect ACT/SAT scores and GPAs. They get into Ivies but not BMC. It’ll be fine.
oops, wrong thread! sorry
Well I have been rejected by most of the other schools I applied to… I don’t really know what exactly went wrong. I don’t think my essays were too bad. The Ivies are yet to release decision, and I am very sure I will not get in anywhere this fall…
Did you have all reach schools on your list, or did you have some match and safeties?
To those asking about fin aid information, it was posted on the Facebook page that the letters will be sent out today.
