Accepted! I couldn’t be happier. Vassar is one of my top choices.
ACT (breakdown): 34

Volunteer/Community service: Volunteer at a jump-start for Hispanic kids. Spend all of June as a TA in a class of twenty 6-year-olds and help them learn. “Los Ninos Primero.”
Summer Activities: ^Ditto. I also did a pre-college program focused on Social Justice
Essays: I wrote my extracurricular essay about Mock Trial and how I learned to work with others/lead. I wrote my “why vassar” about my overnight visit. I think that really helped me - I mentioned a class I visited, what the professor was teaching, and I mentioned his name.
Teacher Recommendation: I’m sure they were both good. One from APES teacher and one from a teacher I TA for.
Interview: Helpful for me, but I don’t think it influenced the admission decision. My interview was three weeks ago.
Applied for Financial Aid?: Nope
Intended Major: ???
State (if domestic applicant): Georgia
School Type: Private Jewish High School

Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): My demonstrated interest. I traveled to campus, did an overnight, and shadowed a class. I believe this helped a LOT, as the admission officers knew I genuinely loved the school.
Reflection:
Good luck to the nervous Juniors reading this thread! Honestly, if you work hard all of high school it WILL pay off. You will get in to a great school.
