Cats1127, I'm surprised you didn't get in. My son has very similar stats and got an acceptance letter today. He is doing the IB diploma so that may have been the hook for him - I don't know. Allow yourself some disappointment, but then move on. Recognize that some of this process is a matter of luck and it wasn't on your side this time. You have very solid stats and will get in to a great school!

Cats1127--if it makes you feel any better, I too was waitlisted with similar "stats:" 2100 SAT (800 on one section), 740 and 770 SAT II's, 4.4 gpa, rank somewhere in the top ten in my class, governor's school, etc. The truth is, lots of applicants are successful, more than they can accept.

I got my acceptance today. First one, so extra exciting. I guess the aid comes later, but they sent another letter about a Wallace Scholaship thing, 5,000 a year, so that's pretty cool. Good luck to everybAdy

Stats:
800 V 710 M 720 CW
Rank: 1/284 at "inner-city" public school
GPA UW: 4.00 GPA W : 4.58
APs and all that, ok ECs and great recs
National Merit

D received financial aid info approx 2 weeks (dated 3/8) after early letter. Dewitt Scholarship & Grant = 27,112 per year. Eligible for another 2,000 w/NMF designation. Comprehensive fees @ Mac w/o books, etc. =
39,020.

CBA that financial documents missing thing doesn't mean anything, I had it too... I got my acceptance today... yay!

I got my acceptance letter a couple weeks ago ^_^. I'm surprised I made it in with Stats like the ones that are being posted here :P. My SATs were in the 1900s barely when I took all of the highest scores. Maybe I wooed them with my essay. Hahaha.

Anyone going to the sampler in April? :P

Accepted (as an English major)! Yayyyyyy! :)

I was accepted yesterday!!! This was my first acceptance from a competive school (I've gotten into UW) so I'm happy! I also got the DeWitt Merit Scholarship.

Stats:
SATs: 750R/690M/720W
GPA: 3.96 UW, 12/609 rank at competitive pulic school
IB Diploma, good interview
Terrible essay (I wrote it on the 15th in like half an hour right before I went out to celebrate my birthday)
Ok ECs

I want to major in IR so Mac will be really great if I decide to go there.
Congratulations to everyone, and good luck in deciding!

I think I'm going to the one on the 20th/21st, if I can get my parents to let me miss two days of school. I haven't actually seen the campus at all, so I think I can convince them.

i think i'm going to go then too. i have never seen the campus and can't wait! i have vacation then so i won't miss school, though.

i'm going 20th/21st as well. Ive visited the campus once before and I'm excited to see it again.

Aw. I'm going to the one that's 9th/10th or something like that. Maybe it's 6th. I know it's at the beginning of the month. I've never been out of California so I hope Minnesota is nice haha.

I'm so anxious. My mom's home, but the box of mail won't be delivered until tomorrow...

If I get in, I won't be able to visit any of my schools before I decide... :S

if you guys dont want to come on a sampler weekend and just want to come for a thursday and friday night with a host or any nights really you can. If you just call and say you want to visit but can't come on the sampler weekend you can come whenever, they will call and find somebody to host. my roommate and i, through soccer (me) and golf (her) and just being on the regular host list have hosted 5 or 6 girls this year. its fun. (weekends are better...at least dont come on a sunday night)

There are pros and cons to sampler weekends, and you dont need to feel like those are your only options for visit times. There were a lot of random PFs (Prospective Freshmen) in the fall and its in some ways a better view of what campus is like without a million other people on campus. But everybody who came to samplers last year said they were fun, so dont think im trying to put you off. Im just saying.. haha, you can come whenever before May. The first two weeks of May are closed.

Waitlisted...
2220 (770W/760CR/690M), 3.54 UW

Congrats to everyone who got in!

Wow seole..I can't believe you didn't get in with such a good SAT score. Macalester must be getting a lot more competitive this year (as always...how is the next generation going to get into college?) and waitlisting a lot of people.

Nah don't worry, I'm sure there were other flaws in my application. Just look at my grades, even for honors classes they aren't that great. It's not all about SAT scores...

Also, a lot of stuff in my app was really last minute because I'm on a Rotary youth exchange this year and it has been tough to do the basic application stuff, unfortunately. I feel really bad about that and I think it has influenced a lot of my apps, but what can you do. I wouldn't trade my experiences this year for anything.

yay! accepted in stl w/ a 32 act and 3.75. SO excited!

reading this is making me so nervous!!! I have not heard anything and its driving me insane.

maybe theyre sending the letters out in batches or something because there are still a lot of people at my school who havent heard yet either. good luck!
