Hi guys, I just received my acceptance letter in the mail today for RD and was offered the presidential scholarship, plus a nice travel stipend of $500 (this will come in handy if I decide to visit- I live in upstate NY!).

I was pleasantly surprised to get my letter before the 15th as I live so far away. I am still waiting on all of my top choices, but with the added money, St.Olaf is definitely a possibility.

I was thinking maybe we could posts stats! Here are my basics.
GPA: difficult to estimate, from a rigorous private school, around 3.8
SAT: 2160 (1370), 710 SAT lit, 720 SAT US History
Teacher Recs: outstanding, one teacher had me for two years in the classroom and coached me in sports.
Essays: Very Good
EC's: Not a ton, but a few very strong with long-term commitment and leadership
Hooks: From far away? Semi-recruited athlete. Other than that, I am white as wonder bread and female so there isn't much going for me in the diversity department...

Hope others on CC are hearing good news as well! :)

congratulations @EmmaWillard2013! I got the presidential scholarship as well! I think they made an effort to send out acceptances as quickly as possible to those who received special scholarships

Congratulations to both of you! It seems like you two are very smart and passionate That’s awesome!

Just a question: how much is worth a Presidential Scholarship? $13000?

Congratulations @newenglandlover and @EmmaWillard2013!
Did you apply for the Presidential Scholarship or were you selected based on your applications?

Yesterday, I called St. Olaf and they said we wouldn’t get an email, but we would get a letter in the mail. To both of you, was your St. Olaf application status website also updated to let you know of your decision? Thanks!

@jaccrazzi thank you! I was chosen based on my application.
I think I said this in the other thread, but after I received my letter I checked my application status website and it had changed. I don’t know when it did though because I had been checking it non stop

I too was chosen based on my application. I received a letter in the mail yesterday, and when I logged on today my status had changed from “awaiting decision” to “awaiting deposit”, there was actually nothing on the page identifying me as “accepted” but there was an invitation to an accepted student day in the right column. I think they will probably make these subtle changes around the same time they sound out your letter, which should be around Friday at the latest from what I understand. Good luck, I hope everything works out and you get an acceptance letter very soon!

I just checked my daughter’s page, and on the right side of the page has link to “Application for Great Conversation” and “Application for American Conversation”. No “awaiting decision” or “awaiting deposit” or link to “accepted students day”

I just checked my application and it said, “You’re invited You’re Invited! Please register for one of the following: RSVP Admitted Student Days - April 13 and RSVP Admitted Student Days - April 20”. But that’s all that’s changed. I’m assuming that’s a good sign!

Yes, that does sound like good news. Congrats!

I was accepted today, too, and I’m on the east coast. Hopefully I’ll get to go to an admitted student day! (The $500 from the presidential scholarship certainly helps!)

@StoryQurl Congrats! How did you know you got the scholarship? Did you get a letter in the mail?

@jaccrazzi that means you’ve been accepted!!! CONGRATS!

@MOMINWIS that means your daughter has been accepted! you can only join those if you’ve been accepted. congrats!!!

@jaccrazzi the letter telling you that you’ve been accepted also includes merit scholarships

@newenglandlover I thought so, too. But I just got the mail and nothing came from St. O. Then I went back on my daughter’s St. O status page and the Conversation links were taken off. Now I don’t know what to think.

@MOMINWIS That happened to me, also! A possibility is that that we’re already in their system as being “accepted” but they don’t want the decisions to be released just yet, and seeing those links on our web page was just a fluke. Maybe?

Here’s what I saw:
Logged in at about 1430 ET. “Student Days” and “Conversation” links were on the right side of the page. Logged in again just now, and the links were gone.

I might die of jealousy seeing you guys r admitted now will they also send out the rejection letter on March 15?

When are the international students notified? Is it at the same time as the US students or is it later?

@beablue11 me too…so hoping to get in…but i am very doubtful of my chances!

As far as I can see, most people have not been notified or not received any indication or another (web, etc.) I suggest that you all stay hopeful. Looking at the last year’s thread, many did not receive any notice until March 15th or even slightly later.

aargh!! this wait is lethal …congratulations to those admitted… u must be so relieved
