RD Acceptance Thread!

I’m in! 123dana123, I don’t think aid is being sent out until the 22nd. At least that’s what the website said. Olaf isn’t my top choice, but it was a really nice school and getting good aid would really bump it up on my list.

@Choiatom, the 2017 admissions page says that they’ll get the int’l admissions emails out this week, so best of luck!

I just got in! Um Ya Ya! St. Olaf Class of 2017

Now that people are hearing their decisions, should we start posting stats? I think people were posting stats earlier in this thread.

GPA: 92% UW (don’t use a 4.0 scale)
SAT: 1980 (610 CR, 660 WR, 710 M)
ACT: 32 (33 S, 33 E, 32 M, 30 R, 10 essay)
Teacher Recs: Awesome. My AP Bio/APES teacher and Chem/AP Physics teacher that I’ve had for 3 and 2 years, respectively. I go to a small school, so they know me pretty well. I am currently doing a year-long research program with one of them.
Essays: Really good.
EC’s: A lot, mostly based around leadership, science and art. I have done 100+ hours of community service, and have been selected by the school faculty to do a lot of leadership conferences, etc. Varsity golf senior captain. Lots of other kinds of awards.
Hooks: I live in Vermont and go to a small public school. Asian, so that probably helps also.

Um, can’t think of anything else! Haha.

How bad is being waitlisted? Do people who are in waitlist receive financial aid or no? I guess my financial need is what put me in that situation =/
Could it be that I’m also catholic and this school is christian? I put a lot of emphasis how much I loved being catholic in my EC.

@Guille19
i do not think religion has a lot to do with the application. i remember reading something on the star tribune about how the st olaf administrations use religion, and it was for the likely hood of an applicant to accept their offer to attend this school (which kinda does affect the admissions, but will not play a big impact). i have no religious affiliations, but i still got accepted. even during my interview, i filled out a piece of a paper and one question asked for my religion and i left it blank.

@jaccrazzi
congratulations. pretty impressive record.

@sunshine626
sorry to hear about the rejection. it seems that they admitted ~400 less students this year than last year. maybe things just got really competitive.

Wait-listed at St. Olaf. I am International student from Pakistan. Lets see whats next

i got waitlisted too. have St Olaf ever accepted any student from the waitlist with financial need? i’m an intl and i sure can’t attend colleges w/o aid…

Did anyone hear about their financial aid packet yet? It says on their website that we will hear by the 22nd…is that by letter or online status??

you’ll find out by letter or at least that’s how i found out. i think you make the payments online.

Waitlisted and an international student with a lot of need.
Is anyone else still hopeful or have we decided to move on?
