Apparently the overall admittance rate for SEAS is around 30%...however, I heard that the percent is much higher for ED. Does anyone know the % admitted for RD? Would you say that it is similar in difficulty or easier to get into RD then CC regular decision?
Does admittance rate depend on what type of engineering you are applying for (ie would it be more difficult to get into biomedical engineering than say, applied math?) Also...concerning engineering, do you think being female would give me an "edge"?
Thanks

Engineering RD 2008 stats
2,252

Admits 639
Admit Rate 28.4 %

Engineering ED

~46%

Yes, ED boosts your chances as does being female.

As far as having ur chances increase based on major...I don't think it matters that much because so many students end up changing their majors sometime during their 4 yrs.

best of luck on ur app.

Regular Decision is still pretty high though.
i really should've done ED for Columbia SEAS
blah

I wish I wanted to be an engineer :-(

It's not actually "easier"...
It's not like SEAS is some backdoor into the University. You have to be as good (or better, as some statistics on the page might suggest) to be admitted, compared to CC.
Admissions officers read applications for both schools and compare students all around, and all admitted students are of equal caliber. SEAS just happens to get fewer applicants because of the fact that it is an engineering school and you're applying to something more specialized than an all-around college. The percentages alone don't indicate 'difficulty' of admission.

You have to work just as damn hard during the past 4 years either way =P

Engineers work hardest...
