To all the RD applicants:

Have you all been contacted by Alumni for your interviews already?
Has anyone not been contacted?

I was contacted almost immediately after submitting my application and already have had my interview. However, it comes down to your possible alumni interviewer. They might not have gotten around to emailing you yet about setting one up. Additionally, people that live in very rural areas far away from any alums might not be contacted at all. Hope this answers everything :)

Your blanket question to fellow applicants shows your unfamiliarity with the interviewing system. ABSOLUTELY some people have not been contacted. ABSOLUTELY some people will not get interviewed. ABSOLUTELY some people who get interviews will be admitted. ABSOLUTELY some who were never interviewed, will be admitted too.

Plz read the following

I understand all of that about Yale’s interviewing system–thanks! I was just checking in to see if many others hadn’t been contacted yet. At the most basic level, its nice to stress with someone else rather than alone haha

I have yet to hear from a Yale interviewer, as well. I’m guessing it’s because I live in a very rural area and an alumnus is not available for my area. I still have my fingers crossed to be contacted.

Right, that makes some sense at least. I live in a large metropolitan area though, so I’m surprised I haven’t been contacted, especially as some of my friends have been, I think.

Totally understandable. I wish Yale was clearer to applicants about the minute importance of the interview process. Conducting them for +20 years, I can attest to that. I have 4 reports to write and have 3 more kids to meet this weekend. That will be 12 total for me this season. (which is actually a decrease)

There are almost 30,000 applicants this year. In the past couple of years, I think I read that there are around 5,000 alumni interviewers. I suspect that of that 5,000, around 10% are inactive. Very, very few interviewers are willing to put in the heroic effort T26 makes. In my area, an average interviewer conducts 2-3 interviewers.

Major metropolitan areas have the most interviewers, but also absolutely crushing numbers of applicants.

I was contacted on Monday for an interview I had today (Wednesday), and it lasted about an hour.

Hadiram, I haven’t been contacted yet either =)

I live in Delhi but still have no notification from my interviewer. :(

Not contacted. I live in the Michigan Metro Detroit area.

^ Same here Cof1023. I live in the metro-Detroit area and have yet to be contacted. My friend, who submitted his app a week after mine, has already had his. He asked his interviewer about me and after some calls it was said that I’ve had a person assigned to me but it does happen that interviewers do not contact their interviewees.

(We were probably assigned the same person )

I live in the US, but no interview yet for me.

Yup contacted for an interview- any tips?

The email that you received from Yale along with your Eli account testifies to the small weight the interview carries. Relax everyone. I know it’s hard to do, but that’s what I’m shooting for until Ivy Day.

Best of luck to us all!
