I proposed this thread in the anxiety thread I started. I think it’s important for us all to realize that while Barnard is a great school, the decision we get doesn’t mean that we aren’t fantastic. We are fantastic because we’re applying to Barnard :)

There is definitely a lot of doubt in the college process, so this thread aims to boost your self-esteem. Post anything about yourself that you are especially proud of; it doesn’t have to do with academics or college applications. You can also give compliments to other people.

So, I’ll start. I’m super-glad to be here and talk to potential future classmates (I try to be an optimist). You guys, of course, rock.

Let’s see how much positive feeling we can get!

I just submitted my app yesterday and while I felt good about it, I was so nervous! I went through all my essays with a fine-tooth comb (or at least it felt like it for me, who almost never edits a thing) but was still unsure of myself. At this point I'm just happy it's over and can't wait to talk to you guys! Maybe we will see each other come fall, who knows.

Also I totally promised myself that I wouldn't be one of those people who checks the status of their apps constantly, but I already am one of them. Even just the little confirmation that the stuff has been downloaded on the common app site is satisfying...

I fell in love with barnards campus this summer but I applied the 1st week of dec. To get it out of my hair (lpl) my only problem was the SAT. I did real bad! But hopefully there's a miracle. Lol. I wish u guys good luck! Women rock!

I love this thread! Hmm...I'm proud of my school newspaper (I'm Ed-in-Chief, so I feel like its mommy) and of finishing a bajillion college apps during my break instead of chilling (I waited till the last minute because I was waiting to hear from Yale; heh). Barnard's such an amazing school; I hope we all get in!

yep, i was deferred from brown. a little disappointed, but i still have some hope and i'm taking this opportunity to like the other schools i'm applying to more. good luck to you with both barnard and brown!

Getting deferred/rejected sucked for everyone, I think, but there are so many amazing schools out there (including Barnard), so I'm slowly but surely moving on and getting excited about other places. Here's to great results in March/April!

Hey squaregirl~ that's crazy, I'm also Ed-in-Chief and applied to Yale.

Um...hmm...I guess I'm proud of that, and also being Flute Section Leader in our high school marching band (XD what a dweeb). Also, I have freak luck on SATs (which I hope will make up for my less-that-spectacular GPA).
