i assume a lot of us are in the midst of the 2nd wave of applications for the RD round.
i thought we could discuss RD type things (not the “i’m deferred - what can i do?” topics) since we’ll have a few weeks to submit, and then a few months to wait.

NOTE: if there is a similar thread like this, please bump it up. i couldnt find a general RD dicsussion.

so…

did you apply anwhere EA? rolling?
have you visited? what did you think?
academic interests?
what are other schools have you/are you applying to?

I am a regular decision applicant!
I applied to UChicago EA.
No I haven'tv visited
My academic interest would probably be medicine, but not sure.
I am also applying to Columbia, Yale, Stanford, Duke, and Emory!

I applied to Bard EA (Immediate Decision Plan) and got in.
I visited (worst info session ever, haha) and stayed there over the summer in the summer@brown program. I loved it, obviously.
I'm especially interested in political science, history, music, and film (the modern culture and media concentration sounds cool).
also applying to: Wesleyan, Vassar, Yale, Oberlin, Brandeis and Swarthmore.

I am now regretting not doing ED, because I've realize that Brown is definitely my top choice now. apparently Brown considers interest a "very important" factor, so what do you guys think an RD applicant can do to show how interested we are?

I'm applying RD, and I have a question about the supplement. For number 9, anticipated degree program, where do we get the table of degrees? i couldnt find it

@jarsilver-- wow, our RD schools are a lot alike:) (Vassar, Wesleyan, Oberlin, Brandeis)
Also applying RD to NYU and Middlebury.
Applied ED to Northwestern and was rejected.
I visited for my brother's graduation in 2001.
Could someone please chance me if possible though? I always chance when I see those threads and I definitely would do the same for you :D I'm the "Chance a poor RD soul" thread applicant hahah.

yeah, i've heard about the demonstrated interest factor, and i totally regret not visiting the campus.

i think we non-visitors just have to stress our interest and passion for Brown in the essays. i attended a regional info session, but the rep wasnt really amazing. i think i began to like Brown a lot more after the session by doing my own research/scavenging on CC and other college sites.

I applied to Bard, Tulane, and SUNY Binghamton EA
I visited and stayed there for Summer@Brown (and loved it)
I'm interested in writing and languages/linguistics
I'm also applying to Williams, Columbia, Wesleyan, Vassar, Univerisy of Chicago, Grinnell, Kenyon, Goucher, SUNY New Paltz, and SUNY Geneseo (a lot of schools, but some of them my parents are making me apply to, to be on the safer side of things).

well, i guess you show interest through your writing. i think they can figure out how much you've read/researched/visited/contacted/loved Brown through what you say.

I applied to one school EA and one school rolling.
I should have visited but my mom was stupid and told me I couldn't apply to Brown because she thought I didn't want a school with open curriculum (***).
Math
I applied to 5 other top tier schools.

visited brown.....love the whole no core curriculum thing cuz i have no interest in taking a foreign language at any point ever.......applied to georgetown early and got in.......applying to pretty much the ivy league (now that i dont need to apply to safeties with GT to fall back on)

Hmm i had a personal interview that my aunt setup for me with an admissions counselor at Brown.. It went over pretty well - talked about the admissions process a lot and about my application.
Besides brown, i applied SCEA to Yale.. no way am i getting accepted ahha, but i took a chance because my uncle went there. Im applying to the other ivies as well, plus tufts and Johns hopkins.

Good luck to all of you guys on this forum, you all have amazing credentials and I'm sure you'll be happy and succeed wherever you end up

Ah, it's been awhile since I've been at the Brown forum. Applying RD this year to the PLME program. The ED cycle looked alright and I'm hoping for the best for the RD round for myself and, of course, for everyone else here.

Applied EA/ED nowhere, but have been in the Stanford forum this last week and witnessed the so called "Stanford Slaughter" as it unfolded. =.= it was terrible...
