Waitlisted, 3.1gpa, 1450 (1980) SAT. Don't think I'm going to go. On a good note I got my VT acceptance online today.

Accepted.
3.4 GPA, 1330 (1890) SAT.

Man, looking at these stats, I think something was seriously wrong with my application. My essays didn't seem terrible. My ECs weren't bad. So I don't know what the problem was. Hopefully, I'm not screwed for all the other common app schools. I did pay my application fee a bit late, so maybe that's the problem?

I don't think that would have been a factor in the decision. I got 2040 and waitlisted. And I am International. I think they tried to guess whether RPI is our first choice, and if not waitlist. So the 'yield' can be protected.

RPI is so weird..

First of all, I am an intl applicant.

I got into Rose-Hulman Institute of Tech with $7,500 global excellence scholarship (PS: RHIT RARELY awards intl students merit-based scholarship) 2 months ago, but now I am waitlisted by RPI, really incredible.

I owned extremely strong rec'd letters and ECs and essays, fantanstic researching experience and projects.

More incredibly, one of my friends, whose TOEFL is 96 in 120, has no SAT I and II, ranking around 20 in 41 students, no ECs and owns ordinary rec'd letters, got into RPI...

I am totally confused...

^What? No SAT 1?

yep cuz Chinese students are waived from SAT I and II tests

I got in!!!

Arrghh. This guy in my class got in with a 1780 SAT I, 700 Math II, 680 Physics, top 25% of class. What on earth did I do wrong?

Accepted YEAH...I want my FA it doesn't say...

To: 20LEGEND

take it easy dude, probably this is the way for the Admission Office to protect its "yield" rate.. one of my frds who got into Oxford also is on the waitlist, so I guess that "waitlist" means "overqualifed" for this year..

oh I got waitlisted too. I got 2040 but.....? its so wierd. how can I do in order to get in I mean from wait list?

But my SATs aren't high enough for me to be a yield-reject.

My S accepted to Arch with 20K in merit $
GPA 3.36
SAT 1920

I got into RPI! With $21,000 merit per year :]
Just found out yesterday.

Well for me, I already turned down a 15k per year scholarship that would have been factored in after financial aid was taken into account (I got one of those accidental "You won the Renssealer Medal!" e-mails). I've taken 10 APs and 5 honors courses, so I am more qualified then my GPA lets on.

I've also visited campus and done an overnight stay, so I did demonstrate interest as well.

Also don't forget that your prospective major could have been more competitive then ours.

Also for 2OLegend: We ended up getting opposite admissions decisions for VT and Rensselaer. I got waitlisted at Virginia Tech, yet accepted to Rensselaer. Different schools look for different things, but I'm sure you have other great schools to consider.

Dal- I got that email too. So they gave me 15k a year before. Then on my admissions page they said they gave me another 6k in merit. I'm guessing I get both- if I do- Hello RPI :]

Any females apply also? I think that the high rejection rate might have something to do with a lot of male applicants. That school has 75% men- ya know?

If you applied early decision, you get the 15k per year scholarship added in.

I was offered 10k with a $3,500 stafford loan in place of the 15k.

My son was placed on the wait list at RPI, something that surprised us until reading some of the others posts here today. Some questions you might be able to help us with: (1) when you will be notified if you have been admitted from the wait list? (2) how you can find out your place on the wait list so that you know what your chances are? (3) how many students do you think were wait listed and (4) how many of those accepted need to say "no" before the wait list is tapped? Congratulations to all of you accepted students and good luck to all the wait listers. Thanks.

accepted architecture.
