Senior schedule:

Chance me and I'll chance back. I know JHU says SAT scores are important but when I went to the admissions info sessions they said that it shouldn't be the predictor of my admission plus I have an interview in Feb.

it’s hard to tell without your scores. Your w GPA is sort of low, do you have a rank?
How many APs have you taken? honors?

Super low scores may keep you out of the running, but if they are meh they certainly won’t keep you out, the same way that awesome ones won’t let you in.

also, if you aren’t a great test taker, do you do ok on AP tests?

ECs are decent. Have good essays and you have a shot :)

I go to a tiny catholic school so I’m 10/85, haven’t taken the AP tests yet since they’re in May but so far I’ve gotten 4’s on class practice tests in bio, JHU doesn’t accept APUSH credits so it doesn’t matter

Everyone says my essays are really good. Considering my sister (eng major) and family friend (admissions counselor @ princeton) have critiqued it

If 3.8 is weighted, that is a little low, I’m not gonna lie. What’s your SAT/ACT score range then, if you don’t want to tell the exact?

Test scores aren’t an end-all-be all, but - this is going to sound trite, because what school isn’t this true for - they’re important.

I’m going to be honest: Hopkins really beats kids up. These aren’t my words, but the ones of an admissions counselor I know/have worked with (outside of admissions, and not Daniel, haha). Your ECs are good, but the first thing Hopkins (and really any school) looks for is you will be able to succeed here academically…

I’m not trying to be callous. …I feel a bit like I’m crushing your dream. Don’t take my word, though. I’m not an admissions counselor. And if it is your #1, I hope you prove me wrong.
