anyone? :)

i don't understand. how can 281 people view this post and not give me any feedback? i really like oberlin so any current student, parent, alum... please do more than just check my stats. i would really appreciate feedback.

and i have new SAT score:

CR: 780
M: 670
Wr: 680 (12 essay)

not that it matters because you'll probably just take a look and not bother replying.

excuse me for being slightly annoyed. but 281 hits are a lot.

Kee10,

I have a daughter at the Conservatory. If you are applying there, it is impossible to say whether you will get in because the audition is the most important factor.

If you are applying to the College, your stats are certainly well within the range of people they accepted last year, assuming that your total unweighted GPA is around 3.5 and weighted would be more in the 3.9 or 4.0 range. Your EC's look very good with both breadth and depth. With good essays (which I hear they consider important) and good recommendations, I would expect you have a better than average chance at getting accepted.

Oberlin is one of the few colleges in the United States that offers financial aid of any kind to international students, but they do not have a huge endowment. Hopefully they can come up with an acceptable financial aid package as well. Personally, I would be more worried about that aspect than about getting in.

thank you BassDad. yes, i'm planning on applying to the college and financial aid IS a big concern for me. hopefully, it'll all work out. i really liked oberlin's approach to international students - their letters, publications, etc all seemed really international student friendly :)

The discussion boards for many of the smaller LACs (except perhaps the most competetive NE schools) are often very quiet and you may get more information by posting on the Chances thread (other students will usually respond) or by formulating a specific questions (say about FA) for the Parents Forum.

Oberlin is a great school. You have good qualifications. Good luck with the process.
