Youre in.

Yu have shown a remarkable improvement oer last few years which is your greatest strength. You got excellent ECs but I don't think Reed cares much about ECs. Reed emphasizes high verbal skills so I think your SAT CR need to be around 700, which is just what you expected. Reed dos not need SAT IIs neither SAT writing section.

However you need to consider if reed is the ideal school for you. while its excellent in english and it has a troupe of distinguished professors, it does not have seperat international studies program. Its got ICPS thats closest it can come to.

thank you cassius; i took the SAT I yesterday... CR was a bit tough, hope it stays around 700 though. i'll check out the ICPS thing.

While we're discussing addmittance.
How's about assessing my odds.
I'm going to relate some information about myself in a bulleted format redy, set...

I attend a private catholic school in a suburb of New York City

My GPA has never been below 4.0

I will have taken five AP couses (both english, bio, calc AB, Politics) by the time I graduate. I expect to get at least a three on all of the exams (I got a 3 on Endlish language)

I have reletivly low SATI scores:
CR:680
MA:640
WR:600

SATII's
BIO: 680
MATH II: 610
US HISTORY: 710

*I have kept my grades up this year
* I have played as 1st alto sax and only bassoon in the concert band. Our band has done well at competintions, local and national.
* I write short stories for the school lit. mag. They are usually the featured piece.
* I was told my personal essay and graded essay were very strong.
* I recieved a prize from the school for Latin scholarship.
* I'm an active member of the Irish club and Amnesty International for what it's worth.
* oh yeah, and I'm a white boy.

That's probably the most important stuff.

Seems that you are typical Reed applicant. High CR, lower math, good academics etc. But what have you got that can scream to admission officer that you are a Reedie? Maybe you should think about that. It does not mean you should start doing wierd things just stand out but rather ARRANGING things you have got just to look quirky.

there are a lot of drugs at reed. hardcore drugs. seriously, think about that before you go.

I am confidant that all my essays are well written and quirk-tastic but not obnoxiously so. I forgot to mention that I have studied Baroque music composition privatly and am an experienced sailor. That's pretty unusual I suppose. Anyway, all this and more is in my application. I guess I'm reasonably confident I will get in.
Why should I care if other people are doing drugs?

Thats preety quirky combo. Maybe you'll stand out.
About drug scene: No-one is forced to do anything without his/her/its consent. However, after academics starts kicking your ass you may want to try caffiene, chemical stimulants, uppers, etc etc just to pull third all-nighter in a row for finishing your 3rd 2000 word paper assigned this week. And you may want to try mushroom just to blow off the steam. and pot just to feel good and less stressed. And downers etc. I can assert that it requires lots of self descipline. Dont come if you lack that and still wanna stay off the drugs.
