RD chances at UVa

Hi, just wondering what you guys think of my chances

Out of state
White male
SAT I: 1450 (770V 680M)
SAT II: Math IIc-710, U.S. History-760, Writing-750
GPA: 3.78uw
Class Rank: 40/440
Solid EC's but not exceptional, good recs, excellent counselor rec

Out of state with weak EC's as you put it might be tough, from the people that got accepted ED this year it looks like they really like the EC's, one of my friends who got bashed on here for getting in b/c he had a 3.3 1280 and was a minority, what people didn't realize was that he had amazing EC's which he didn't post, like spending 25 hours a week at a child services place for hispanic kids. Its up to the adcoms, but i think uva is really looking for the EC's. Good luck.

i think that you will get in. your gpa is a bit low, but it IS uw..your class rank is good, as are your SAT I and SAT IIs..

but he is out of state, look at another poster justletmein who had 1500, great sat II's, great gpa, but he even said he ec's were lacking a little, he got deferred regular, and was out of state, i give a 50-50 shot, just b/c of the EC's and being out of state, otherwise your test scores are well above the average

Thanks for the feedback, i guess a 50/50 shot is pretty good. I do kind of regret not doing more EC stuff.

My estimate is 50/50 or, alas, maybe less. Do a lot of people from your area also apply to UVA? Sometimes it helps if you're the only one from northwestern East Wyoming to apply this year (decade?). But, if you're from suburban NJ or (horrors!) MD, then you should be looking hard at your backup plan.

Im from WA state, and I doubt a lot of people apply to UVa

that is not a low gpa if it is unweighted
