RD Chances for SCS :-)

<p>Hiya, thanks for clicking. You Just got Rick Rolled! no.. j/k. I'm a high school senior and i'm looking for my chance at CMU SCS. </p>

<p>White middle class family, 100% EFC
GPA: 4.0uw, 4.28w
Rank: School doesnt rank, very competitive and i'm prolly top 10 or so
PSAT: 216 (sophomore) 220 (junior)
SAT I: 1530/2200 (730 CR, 800 M, 670 W)
SAT II's: Math2c: 800; Physics: 790; USH: 730
Sophomore AP Scores: AP Chemistry (5), AP Comparative Politics (5)
Junior AP Scores: Physics B (5), APUSH (5), English Language (5)</p>

<p>Club's/School-related activities:
-Science Club member, we raised money through various fundraisers to
go on a year-end field trip. Sophomore year we took a bus to Phoenix and
examined cadavers at a local college and attended the Body World's exhibit
at the science center.
-I'm planning on founding a Computer Programming club with my friend once school starts up again. On that note, i am fairly proficient in Java and am currently teaching myself C++.</p>

<p>Awards/Recognitions:
-220 psat should qualify National Merit Semifinalist in AZ and hopefully that
will continue on to become Finalist
-I will graduate with honors from my high school
-Placed in top 50 overall in the Arizona Association of Teachers of
Mathematics Math Competition. The same score placed me in the top 10
for my level.</p>

<p>Recs: Solid.</p>

<p>Essays: In revision stage atm. Very original ideas and should be good to go by winter</p>

<p>So what do ya'll think? Do i stand a shot at getting accepted? Accepted with merit money (Would be great since i won't get any FA even though i'm sending in FAFSA)? Thanks for your time and good luck on your upcoming school year for all current CMU students!!</p>

<p>You have a very good chance to get into SCS it's a great program. Scholarships though are tough to get at Carnegie Mellon. You should apply and go to a sleeping bag weekend if possible</p>

<p>Your stats and grades are fine. From what you've posted it's hard to tell just how much computer experience you have - while not required - it would be a plus if you've had computer related jobs, done projects, participated in competitions or can point to things you've taught yourself to do (such as learning C++).</p>

<p>I'm not bumping this for more chances (though, if you REALLY want to chance me be my guest). Instead, i was wondering when the Carnegie Mellon 2013 forum will open up for current HS seniors</p>

<p>My S's academics were comparable to yours. He was accepted in SCS, but didn't get any money.</p>
