RD chances on Thursday

I'm guessing their RD acceptance rate is probably around 4%. That statistic is almost depressing. I am no where near an exceptional applicant compared to some people, and I was wait listed at WashU and Rice. Is there any hope? Like I feel I have 0 chance and I wasted time applying.

4% oh god.

hey, same here for getting waitlisted to those places! i also got a likely letter to brown so, i was scratching my head for a bit after i got my decisions. so maybe youre just too good for rice and wash U!

Good Luck to you!

Don’t worry. I applied with ridiculously low stats but it doesn’t hurt to try. Just have hope. You never know :3

No way the acceptance rate will be that low…only 26K applied for Princeton RD versus 37K for Harvard RD, whose RD acceptance rate has already been calculated to be around 3%-4%. the freshman class size for harvard and princeton are pretty much similar in size, and princeton accepted around half of its class for SCEA already just like harvard did. so the acceptance rate of Princeton RD should be somewhat higher around the 6%-7% rate.

Personally, I think the term “acceptance rates” is misleading.
A 4% acceptance rate means that the college accepts 1/25 applicants, which is by all means true.
However, the more depressing note that I’ve looked at just means that I have to beat 96% of applicants (AKA like 20,000+ exceptional students).
Sorry if I’ve depressed anyone, but it’s better to actually think that you have no chance than to ask if you have no chance. A majority of the time, it’ll help prepare someone for what will probably happen.

princeton is smaller though right?

Both schools admit about the same number of students each year, around 2000. However, the yield rate for Harvard is higher. Hence, Princeton has a smaller class of 1300 while Harvard’s is around 1600.

I think Princeton’s going to be even smaller this year because 2016 was overenrolled

^Yep. They lowered the target class size by like 20 students. You could see that with SCEA; even though there were more applicants, fewer were admitted compared to last year.
