haha so i tried posting this ealier and only got like 2 responses...sry for being obnoxious, I just need some realistic opinions!!!

Hook: Hispanic (spanish)

Brother grad. from Brown Engineering, helping me write my engineering essay.
my secondary essay for math took a narrative approach about my math-centered life and how i create fun equations/algorithms to apply to real life (college chances, track times, etc.) and how i am studying genetic traits of reptiles for rare phenotypes in offspring....(dunno, i'm hoping it's different/intereseting)

PLEASE!!! AAANNNNYYY COMMENTS!!!! aaaaaaahhh!!!! PLEASE, PLEASE, COMMENTS, BLAH BLAH IM BOOORED...

your ecs look really similar to mine (xc indoor and outdoor as the main). I got into engineering rd with m 710, w 790, and v 680. act 32. I think the thing that got me in though was my writing (essays). of course i can't give you exact chances, but perhaps you can compare yourself to me, as you seem to be pretty similar

Hm, i think you look pretty good, but its really hard to tell what the admissions committee thinks...Maybe higher SATII math (considering when I took it a perfect score was 92nd percentile) and cancel that chem score or greatly improve it. What about AP classes? Do they show a math/science focus? I think the tutoring is cool. I would say your ecs lack significant leadership experience.
good luck!

i don't think his ec lack significant leadership experience.. he is captain for track and crosscountry and also in student council.. i think it is adequate. your sat scores are on the lower side.. but your rank+gpa looks good.. what about the rigor of your classes? i like the work experience and i think your essay on engineering is quite good.. and your minority....... hmm it would be a very good chance in my opinion.

thanks for the input guys, much appreciated.
sixteen00, you were accepted COE with a 710 in math?!? did u have some other hook? wow.

any other thoughts, anyone? all comments MUCH appreciated, please!!!

i had 35 act math if that means anything

um...haha yes i would definitely say that means something. what is ACT math like, anyway?

bumpizzle my nizzle

if you are waiting for realistic opinions, wait until you hear your decision from real admission officers.

ah, thank you laurstar! very helpful; why didn't i think of that? hmm..after all i mean its only 6 months away. thanks again, this is definitely the purpose of chances threads. haha

buuuuuuump

you were the one who wanted realistic opinions...not need to lash out with a rude sarcastic tone

well technically it won't be an opinion** when the decision comes, it'll be more like a given fact.
ok I will revise my statement: i'm looking for opinions of non-cornell-admission-officers.

well in that case, i think you have a good chance. just dont let admission officers know that your brother wrote your essay

haha well thanks.
and I am writing it, just his experience is part of what interested me. haha but i'll try not to tell them i guess. so i wonder if admissions officers patrol CC for interesting stuff.

humpedy bumpedy

im sure you have a good chance because it shows that you have dedication and passion for a certain sport which you have continued for a long while (i get the impression that running is a big part of your life and takes up a lot of time), you have initiative to make yourself known because you have been in the stuco, and your community service isnt just like pop-in and a couple of hours a week but you actually created your own service project and had some real results. i think that shows something about your aptitude and ability to thrive in a very good business school which im sure cornell will notice.
but i dont know - i dont go there. thats just my impression. either way, im sure you will go to a very good school...

thanks for the input, much appreciated
