RD Chances please? :)

Okay, so right now RPI is my top choice. I've already been accepted to my 2 safety schools and to WPI, which is my second choice. I'll also be applying to Dartmouth which is my 3rd choice, But I really want to know about RPI...

Major: Biochemistry and Biophysics

I don't know my unweighted GPA but I estimate it to be around 3.7
(I've gotten all A's and A-'s in high school except for one B in Freshman English and a B+ in Principles of Engineering sophomore year).
Weighted it is 5.43 out of 4.0
SAT: 2120 (790W, 690R, 640M) (my math is the low one, that's what worries me for a technology school)
Subject SATs: Bio E 760, USH 710, Chem 700
ACT: 32 (31 on the Math, 29 Sci, and 34 and 33 on English/Reading)

Currently taking 4 AP classes (Calc AB, English, Physics, and Psychology).
In Calc and English I have B's, but I have A's in Psychology and Physics.
I took AP Bio as a sophomore, got an A- in the class and 5 on the Exam.
Junior year (last year) I took AP US History and AP Chem, A-'s in both classes. 5 on both exams.

My class rank is 6 out of 235, and our top 20 or so are quite competitive.

I'm in Girl Scouts with a Bronze Award working on my Gold, National Honor Society, I was in my Church Youth Group and now I'm in my school's Bible Club, etc.
I've volunteered 200+ hours at a local hospital over the past 3 summers.
I have won a Public Speaking contest at the Southeast CT district level.
I've won a St. Michael's Book Award and Princeton Alumni Book Award.
I was also chosen as the only student from my high school to participate in the committee to select our school's new principal. (I thought that was pretty cool).

My letters of recommendation were pretty good, and I think my essay was good too about how I decided I want to go into medical research.

Please be honest and as harsh as possible!!!
Thank you!

I think you have a really good shot, are u going to the 7 year ultra competetive medical program in RPI or just the normal RPI? If it is for the former, your shot of getting in is slim. But if you are just applying to RPI, I would say you have a good shot.

CSMathAsa1994 - pretty sure the deadline for that is over, but yes, it is intense and few make it in.

Americannerd11 - I’d say you have a pretty good chance of getting in for a couple main reasons…

You’re a female; sorry lol, but tech schools have this bad reputation of having awful male:female ratios and unfortunately it’s true. RPI is trying to overcome this problem by accepting a few more females than males.

Your stats are reasonably good, although your Math section on the SAT is a bit on the lower side. Most people at RPI get >= 700 on it.

ECs are decent and awards are nice, which is another asset.

If you got into WPI, chances are you’ll get into RPI as well…their expectations are very similar and both are great schools for science/engineering.

Good luck!

Thanks to both of you!
I’m just applying to the regular RPI admission, nothing special or 7yr program.
I actually am grateful for the lean towards female applicants on this one :P

Your ACT score sounds good - maybe you should only submit that if you are worried about your SAT scores.

You’ll definitely get in and get at least decent money.
