Essays-Spent a lot of time on them, about my diversity (White, arabic, spanish) edited thoroughly by my friend who is an English Major who graduated from Brown University last year and is currenty an english professor in Turkey.

Chances for BC and BU thank you…

bu: definitely in
bc: slight reach/match; it's really going to come down to your essays, as your scores are right in the middle of the the mid 50% range.

I think you have a good chance to be admitted at both BC and BU. Were you varsity level basketball & volleyball and do you speak both Arabic and Spanish? I also think it's good to spend a lot of time on your essay and to get it edited by someone you know is a good writer, it isd underestimate how much time and effort it truly takes to write a great essay and so many don't take the extra step of having it edited like you did.

I say you'll get in. But then again, I kept guessing wrong on these high stats applicants. It's really random.

thanks for responses, i'm a little nervous because i already know six kids from my school that are applying to BC. Do you think they put a limit on how many kids they accept from one school?

i'm in the same boat- i called and they said that they have no quota per school, (because that would technically be illegal.) however, they're probably not going to accept 10 people from the same school.

Dear riborn : Congratulations on your two part SAT score of 1400. Balanced with a pair of 700s, your test scores are clearly in the right spot. Combined with the writing, you are at 2060 which should be good enough for admission criteria.

Your GPA is fine numbers-wise, the question would be the course load you were taking while accumulating those grades. The expectation would be that you should have several AP courses (or IB courses) within your junior/senior curriculum.

Your sports are sketchy - are these varsity high school teams, club teams, or recreational teams? Your activities are consistent with others - not more, not less. More information about your volunteer work should be a focus of your essays.

Your "chance me" data is missing some core details that would help with a thumbs-up or thumbs-down evaluation. Based on what you have presented, my best suggestion would be "could be".

BC accepted 13 kids from my son's school last year (class size was approx 300 (not much more, maybe less).

Ribon, I think you have a good/great shot...Good luck!

Bonmar...just a question...is your sons school an all boys Jesuit school?

Yes, pquilty, it is. Why do you ask?

^ Because BC loves all boys Jesuits. You wouldn't believe how many guys I know attended all boys Jesuit-high. I think that that kind of high school usually advertises heavily BC, Georgetown, and Fordham to their seniors so it's not unusual having 120 applications from one Jesuit high school.
