It was good enough for EA at Stanford, will it be good enough for Duke?

go to stanford and be content! lol, just messing, if your dreams are at duke, apply; but stanford is probably slightly more prestigious than duke and the weather is unmatched.... not to mention you get to brag about being a cardinal. I'm not gonna lie, I'm slightly envious.

Haha, well... I of course will be quite happy to end up at Stanford, but I have lived 10 minutes away from the school my whole life. Also, from personal observation, the women at Duke are at least slightly superior, haha. It will definately be a tough choice if Duke accepts me. Thanks!

i agree, i applied EA to stanford, and i got rejected. i would give anything to be accepted. i'm also south american btw and have similar stats excepted higher g.p.a. and lower scores but i'm also into journalism. sounds like you still are a little curious about being admitted other places. if you really feel that way, take a shot at it. what have you got to lose? just don't take spot from me at duke and i'm happy. if you don't want the EA at stanford, give me the heads up i'd be happy to take it for you! lol i'm jk. good luck!

Stanford is much better. I mean I love Duke, wonderful school, but I would go to Stanford over it in a heartbeat. But, then again Stanford is so far away from me it isn't a viable option.

I consider both institutions practically equal academically. If I got into both, it would be a decision based mainly on social environment and gut-feeling. It'll definitely be a tough decision if Duke accepts me... and by the way, I'd like to hear some more statistics on the probability of that...

Please... US News and World Reports... it is only a silly ranking. A number my good friend. Stanford is much more than a number, just as Duke is much more than a number. The rankings vary from student to student. I seriosuly don't give a damn about the rankings. I hate kids who buy that book and just apply to the top ten schools or the schoosl on the first page. That is just horrible. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I have done no such thing. The only schools I applied to in the "top 10" are Stanford and Duke because I am so in love with them from my visits. I was simply rebutting your vehement declaration of how much 'better' stanford is with some universally available, objective and acknowledged ratings. How can you condemn me when you judge me as one-dimentional for posting a link to a magazine's website? There is no need to attack.

Haha, oh good-- sorry, it's just so damn difficult to detect over message boards sometimes. Your message sounded like it was becoming increasingly rabid.

You're probably in, good stats, plus South American. I'd pick Stanford over Duke too since I live in California, but since I already made Duke I hope to see you there next year too!
