how does a 5.1 gpa work? Your ACT is high so I think you have a good chance.

You need to adjust your GPA to a normal weighting... thats not even possible at my school. try using

.5 for Honors
1 for AP

Completely unweighted like regular classes the same as honors.
It came to a 4.51.

We get a 6 if we get a 5 in an honors class

wow, how did u get that gpa?? honors and ap classes at my school are 5 points, but for gym the highest is 4 so the highest is like 4.8-4.9ish. not even possible to get above a 5. this is the normal weighting scale.

Read my above post, but basically are scale is 5 points for an A in a regular class and 6 points for an A in an honors/AP class. Also, gym does not count towards are GPA, although we do get a grade.

it seemed kind of unecessary for you to post here if you ask me, unless your applying for the seven year doctor/lawyer programs, or have a long criminal history your most definitely in-----i think we should start a new cc law that only people who are actually seriously worried about their chances at a school and have probable cause to do so are allowed to post chances threads----obnoxious

No I think everyone should be allowed to post if they want, now if they do post to show off, well thats just low. There are many kids though with good grades that honestly don't know much about GW and other colleges, so we can help them and should.

Honestly, I thought I was qualified, but I didn't know I was most definitly in as long as I didn't kill someone. I wasn't trying to be rude. I got deferred from my number one and I'm just trying to figure out what's I'm going to be doing for the next four years of my life.

I think anyone should be able to post. Sometimes even the kids with really good scores get deferred or rejected from really good universities and then feel a little insecure. I know that this site has definitely helped me feel better about my GW app.

fair enough i could see how a defferal could drive one to do this--jk--where did you get deffered from?

The University of Chicago, I still feel good though, because I'm sending the rec I'm using for GW to U of C and it is an excellent rec.

ppl should be able to post as long as they're not trying to show off, but then again there are those who do not know their true potential, even though it may cost a decrease in the self-esteem of others, it will still be beneficial in knowing the types of candidates out there.
is it me or are soccer players naturally good at tennis and vice versa. i play tennis but if i play soccer i do quite well defensively.

I played goalie almost exclusively since 4th grade, so I had the hardest time with my backhand volleys, because I would naturally do them with my palm facing the net.

And tennis and soccer both have the same sort of anticipation. You learn to figure out where someone is going to go before they go there.

I think all of us love the CC because of the great feedback we get from our peers, alum, parents and students at the schools we are interested in attending .However we also should take with a grain of salt each others' opinions on the infamous"what are my chances" question as each year the adcoms have an idea in their minds what type of class they want to admit and the factors that they consider in melding that class together.

Most lacs and universities' web sites give detailed info on the 25-75% SAT and GPA of incoming class as does US NEWS. I think current students can give idea of what they had and their classmates had that got them in. Sadly so many of us will get shot down with stats as good as others who get in. So although it's nice to be told "those are great stats you should get in no problem" don't forget to pick good safeties.

Also don't forget the "Tufts Syndrome". There are schools we may think are sure things that will reject us because they know we are only using them as safeties and don't want to waste an acceptance on us. Anyhow that's my two cents. I hope all of us get in to the best possible school that we love. For me I have another year to go before I apply.
