yale is really competitive this year. I heard they’re only accepting people at the top of their class with a lot of community service. but could go either way. Good luck!

@floraha - You sound like an excellent candidate given your longstanding commitment to both human rights work and writing. Also being a first generation applicant is a real “hook” in the admissions process. However, your SAT and AP scores aren’t great, so a lot will depend on your letters of recommendation and on the quality of your essays.

As long as you cast a wide net and also apply to safety and match schools - including Barnard and Smith, which would likely give you substantial financial aid - you will end up at a school where you will flourish academically and socially. Best of luck!
