RD Chances

Hello All!

I had already posted my chances a while back, and got a well-thought out and appreciated response from Ephman. I'm simply reposting for further feedback if possible.

Williams has been my first choice college for quite some time now. I visited mutiple times, did an overnight stay, and have an upcoming interview scheduled. However, I was uncomfortable applying early decision to a school, so I decided to go EA to Yale, since it was nonbinding. I'm just looking for a barometer as to my potential RD chances to Williams. Thanks again, I appreciate it.

My science teacher, who has been around for over 30 years, told me privately my school typically hasnt had very much luck with Williams. Hopefully, I'll be able to break that trend. Thanks again.

I'm planning on self-studying the AP econ tests as well. What worked well and what didn't for you?

As for your original question, you look like an excellent applicant. I won't pretend to know your chances, but if you don't get in, I think it's probably because of factors outside of your control (geography, socioeconomics, etc.). The one thing is your econ scores don't fit with the rest of your profile, but if you note that you self-studied they won't hold them against you. It might even be a plus.

Good luck. I might be joining you.

You can suppress the AP scores in Economics by paying an extra fee - I think you should do this (at least for the macro score).

yes sorry to clarify, i only reported the macro score of 3

catfish - the way i studied was to buy a AP study guide, look at the order in which the material was presented, then use a textbook I borrowed from the school to supplement and elaborate on the lessons. Unfortunately, I feel I could have done better had I had more time to prepare.

Thanks again for your comments everyone, I appreciate it.

One final note, one of my friends is a low band football player that is being recruited by Williams. Would anyone know the bare requirements he would probably need to get in, and would my chances be heavily affected?

"Both" essays?? I thought there is only ONE essay for the application since I didn't see any essay prompt or question on the supplement. Did i miss an essay??? I've already submitted my app.!!! oh noooo...

i just checked, there is no essay for the supplement. so how come your wrote two essays?

I'm guessing the two essays sportsman referenced were on the common app: explain an EC (<150 words) and the one where you have a choice (up to 500 words).

I just checked and there is no essay on the supplement. samgee, remember the advice of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: DON'T PANIC

oh christ, sorry to stir up so much anxiety, I was referring to both common app essays, there was no supplemental essay

oops...i generally freak out about college apps. (good thing that i'm all done w/ them...)
