RD Class of 2014

Is the wait killing anyone else besides me?

^I’m a transfer student and even though I submitted my last paper only a week ago, the waiting already drives me insane. I have no idea how I am going to make all the way to June 1 when our results will become available. After being waitlisted at various top Universities last year, waitlist or rejection this time will be too hard for me to bear.

@FutureTransfer: The waiting might get progressively easier. It did with me. I spent the first few weeks of 2010 in anxiety and then I settled into the wait.

Can’t wait!

( : Does anyone know how notification works?

Is it by e-mail or snail mail?

Georgetown does barely anything by email - their system is really stuck in the 90s. Anyway, their website says that letters should arrive “by April 1st”, which means that some people in that area and on the east coast will probably get them a day or two earlier than that. I live outside of Boston, and my deferral letter for early action came on 12/14 when they had said the notification date was 12/15.

Thanks slpxx16.

Guess I’ll probably receiving it on the 1st - by the end of that weekend anyway.

And I suppose it’d be easier to spot if you got in or not by the size of the envelope? ( :

Good luck everybody, and try very hard to stay sane and productive until the end of the month!

Correct me anyone if I’m wrong, but I believe acceptances and rejections come in the same size envelope (small business envelope). The extra info like financial aid and stuff comes later in a different envelope, not on the same day

I know that EA decisions came in the small business envelope regardless of accept/defer, so I’d assume it’s the same for RD.

Well, looking at the calendar, April 1 (which is when my deferral letter said I would receive a decision by) is a Thursday. So I think there are two options: they’ll end their business week by sending out decisions on March 26th, and then give the letters the weekend to get through USPS, or they’ll mail them on the 29th, Monday. Personally, I think it would make more sense to do it on the 26th, so they can start the next week on getting kids to enroll and send in their deposit. However, they might need that weekend to finish up some of the committee meetings and printing/stuffing/addressing/stamping the envelopes. Either way, they ought to be coming sometime early that week (29th - 31st). Which means we have, like, 3 weeks left. :/

While we wait, anyone mind posting their stats? I’ll start

Hey everyone,

I saw someone comment earlier about envelope size. I’m a student here and just to save everyone some drama, the acceptances and rejections both come in small envelopes. Good luck to you all, and root for us against Marquette tonight.

Hoya Saxa

One of the counselors said that the Admissions Committee would be completed on March 19th. So decisions will probably be mailed out soon afterward.

Closure sooner rather than later would be nice. #1 choice of S, who was deferred EA. He has been accepted to other good schools, but I swear he would forsake even HYP to go to GT. He had a tremendous experience at summer college there last year.

“no matter where you go, there you are” Buckaroo Banzi

Wait, so internationals hear through snail mail as well?

I’m so excited!
Can anybody elaborate on financial aid packages? Is Georgetown good about helping students pay for their education?

who did you hear that from? your guidance counselor?

Are you really 2nd in class? because you misspelled salutatorian quite badly. Haha, just kidding…(but yes, you did spell that wrong; it’s like when people misspell congratulations as congradulations)

@Stupefy: I have been in contact with one of the Georgetown admissions counselors because I was missing some things in my application and she told me the admissions committee was ending on March 19th. She even e-mailed me back on saturday so I think they might have worked the weekend as well.

^and she said they are mailing march 19th?? wow that is definitely early. good news!
