@oscarGCR The award/scholarship was written in the acceptance letter itself and was not separate. Maybe you didn’t get an award, or perhaps it might come in later? You can contact the financial aid office just in case!
Still haven’t received anything. Getting worried!!
Anyone from the Bay Area who has gotten an acceptance for nursing? What are your stats?
@dessan55 My dd applied EA and was accepted in late Dec into Nursing. We are local
Her GPA was 4.33 U.W and her ACT was a bit lower like 28
When did you apply?
@Lovemyjob I applied RD, a few days before the Jan 15 deadline. I looked at last year’s thread and supposedly RD nursing admission decisions are mailed later? I am hoping thats the case, I am getting a bit worried. Just wondering, did she get her acceptance through mail, then email?
@dessan55 I feel like the mail came first and the email later that day- bit it was a few months ago so Ic an’t remember
It was a big envelope tho that says something like
this is what you have been waiting for
Is USF your first choice??
@Lovemyjob USF is my first choice mostly because it is close to home and is in the center of the city (for the most part). I did not apply for EA/ED because at that time, I was very lost with the whole college application process, and was hoping that my 1st semester senior grades could help my GPA.
My stats are not that high, W GPA is 3.61, ACT 28. Took 6 AP classes. Lots of EC in medical field related organizations. Essay talked about immigrating back in 2004 (not sure if that helps). But I’m hoping that is good enough to get accepted to their nursing program…
My friend got his acceptance letter a few days ago… I’m getting very anxious. We live in Hawaii and I was wondering if it’s a possibility that they send out the admission letters in alphabetical order… So much anticipation for this letter This is my first choice and I fell in love with it when I visited over the summer!
Ahh!! I’m really hoping I hear back today. All my friends are hearing back. It’s making me nervous. USF is my top school.
@alwrightt I live in the Big Island and I just got my acceptance letter today. Definitely a fallback school for me but don’t be worried! I think it’s just regular Hawaii mail problems today.
Also I got a 22k merit scholarship which is awesome so it’s probably my #1 fallback right now
No shame but i got waitlisted for their Nursing class… but guaranteed a spot in their Spring 2017 Nursing class. I do not know what to do. Should i accept their offer, then just take community college classes for fall?
I have been accepted to other colleges. I am considering SJSU, SFSU and Dominican University. All as prenursing. SJSU and SFSU are both “lottery” systems once I complete my prereq for Nursing Major. Dominican is also the same, but less competitive since it is private. Each school will cost about the same due to a scholarship from Dominican.
@dessan55 Congrats!!! You DID get accepted to USF direct entry nursing- that is awesome. I think your idea of community college until then is smart.
The problem I see with the other schools is that they are not Direct entry so you will not be certain to get in Junior year and that may end up being much more time in school. I bet your chances at Dominican are pretty good tho too
You have a lot of thinking to do…
@dessan55 If I were you, I would take the offer. Better outcome in the end with a prestigious degree and like what @Lovemyjob said, it is guaranteed you will be going into the nursing program directly. Instead of your chances just being random, or having to compete for a small number of spots down the road.
Good luck!!
@Lovemyjob @Kenna_B Thank You! I have narrowed my decision down to SJSU’s 5 year program and USF’s Spring 2017 offer.
I am waiting for a reply from USF’s admissions office regrading any scholarships/financial aid and the community college fall issue, then I will be making my decision. I actually do appreciate having a “gap semester” and have realized that USF is still the best, fastest and most direct path I can take
I received my letter today, I am waitlisted. Anyone else get waitlisted? They don’t report there statistics and they say it’s unranked. Ugh.
Same I got wait listed too, I’m wondering all about the wait list stats because there are none that I could find. The wait list works when student choose not to attend college so those seats are given to students wait listed so our chances are pretty slim :/.
Yeah. I got wait listed too. I’m going to stay on the list though. It’s my top school and I would love to go. Don’t like that there aren’t stats on the wait list either. But I’m not giving up that easy. Haha
I encourage you all to opt-in. It sounds like all of you are extremely passionate and dedicated to attending this school. Although I was accepted, I will not be attend USF, so that’s one free spot for someone! Good luck to all of you!
Accepted
ACT 31
GPA 3.2w (3.8w senior first semester)
3 5s on AP, 5 more APs in progress
2 SAT subject tests 610 & 800
Did everyone receive their decision through mail, or was there an email as well?
On the east coast and haven’t heard anything yet…
