RD Countdown

So it's a little early, buuuut I couldn't resist. 25 days and 14 hours until RD decisions! I've been waiting for them ever since I was deferred back in December. It's like this whole year has been me sitting around and waiting (not that I'm really allowed to sit around with all the swim practices and school, anyway).

Pomona is the last college I hear from. I have heard from five colleges so far, and have four more to go! It's going to be nice when things finally wrap up in April, and then we can be the ones choosing instead of being chosen. :)

So what has everyone been doing while waiting? Anything interesting? I've been studying for all my IB tests, but our sophs have standardized testing this week so we get to come to school late. Very nice, indeed.

Also, any preliminary guesses about what your decision will be? What will you do if that decision is fulfilled? I'm thinking I'm going to get waitlisted. And then I'll start laughing, because it'll be like they were stringing me along the whole time.

ah we have standardized testing too! it’s SO nice sleeping in- except tomorrow i have review which will suck but oh well

pomona is my 2nd to last school i hear from- BC is my last, but i kinda doubt i’ll end up there. basically on the day i hear back from pomona, i will be sitting around because it is a saturday, and i surprisingly have no lax games or practice that day so chances are i will sit within view of the mailbox attempting to distract myself, and failing miserably.

i have no clue what would happen. basically, i know i’m not up to par for pomona, but i had SUCH a drastic improvement in grades my senior year (suprising, i know. i worked my ass off) that anything could happen. the reason i wasn’t rejected ED1 was because i improved my grades so i’m keeping my fingers crossed!

the other day at my lab table, someone was trying to describe all of our personalities. i was called “girl obsessed with pomona” haha… and to think i’ve never even seen the campus!

i doubt ill get in… and even if i do its WAAAY too expensive. so unless my family gets really poor in like three weeks and i get major need-based aid, theres no way i can go :(

wow. i was just thinking of creating some kind of countdown for myself. that’s weird…
but i want to find out also!!! I also did ED and got deferred. Then, I started thinking that I wanted to go back East, but now that it’s really nice out in California, I don’t know if I want to leave.

Pomona would be awesome x 10.

Does Pomona email or only send mail? Anyone know how they will let us know?

I probably shouldn’t mention this, but it could be a bit less than 25 days away. Last year’s threads show people getting a letter as early as 3/30, and a bunch getting the letters on 3/31 and 4/1. They haven’t added an on-line notification system, as far as I know.

^^Oh yes, that’s understandable. Those who get rejections get their mail on the day, but those who are accepted get priority mail and can receive their acceptance up to a week earlier (depending on your location). I remember freaking out around the time of ED notification because the date was approaching but I still hadn’t received a letter, so I had convinced myself that I had gotten a rejection.

As far as I know, Pomona sticks to snail mail.

Lupe, if you have a facebook, add the Countdown application. I have one set for April 5th and June 10th, when I’m graduating. :)

I applied to Pomona ED II and was deferred. I want to move on so badly, but when I think about it something tells me that I belong there. I’ve sent in letters of rec and will send in my grades, but at some point I just have to tell myself that if my passion and ambition isn’t enough for them, then it’s their loss. I’m still very impatient though…

22 days

Catsushi,

ah! that’s creepy. I did do that. I made a countdown titled “The Last Day of High School/The Beginning of Freedom.” The only problem was that it included weekends and non-school days, so it said 90 something days left instead of 60 days, which sounds like a really long time… so I removed it.

and then i was going to make one for Pomona, but I realized that I don’t know the exact date for sure… like everyone was saying.

Still, that’s funny that you said that!!

11 days until decisions come out! Or should I say, less than 11 days.

Lupe, great minds think alike!

10 dayys!! I’m going to call tomo and ask when notifications come out. Cuz Rice’s was supposed to come out on the 1st of April but I called today and they said it came out today x____x"

do they post it online???

Nope, snail mail! Those with rejections will just have their letters trickle in, but those with acceptances might recieve their letters early. Ah, geez, what a weird week it shall be next week.

my wierd week has already begun today w/ my rejection to Rice >.>"
oh well.. rice and pomona were my top so hopefully i’ll get a happy letter soon!! ^____^

so did anyone get anything so far? ahhh this is horrible…

I heard that someone received his package(Fedex) on April 1.
Nervous…

Cross-posting from “April 5th” thread:

Based on past years, I would hazard a guess that Pomona will do its utmost to have acceptances in mailboxes before April 5.

D:

jgksagjkj10ir5u1io.

The wait is KILLING ME…

And what’s even worse is if you don’t get a letter BEFORE April 5th, well.

You know you’re probably REJECTED.

They only send out letters, right? I am out of town until the fifth :frowning: Maybe i will have to employ a friend to steal my mail and open it

Everyone, don’t freak out if your letter isn’t here on time. It DOES NOT mean rejection. Last year mine came almost two weeks late and it was an acceptance.
You’ll all know soon enough. Wherever you end up, college is an amazing experience and you will be happy.
