RD Countdown

8 days!!

Thanks for the tip, knr802.

Yeah, don’t freak out if you don’t get your letter in the first few days! It has more to do with distance from Pomona to where you live than anything else. Even though acceptance letters are sent via USPS Priority Mail, realize that Priority Mail often doesn’t get to the destination faster than regular USPS mail. So don’t assume a rejection if you haven’t gotten your letter while others have. Good luck everyone!

Take a look at this blog from Colby about what goes on in the final days before the letters are sent:

yes -great minds do think alike catsushi!

6 Days!

Oh wow, I have two more colleges to hear from, Pomona being one of them. Almost there!

are we supposed to get a letter by the 5th? (whether acceptance/rejection)
or just any random day before that?

catsushi, i think i remember you from my pomona visit. i think we had an interview at the same time and we both ended up watching the women and hip-hop documentary?

Yeah I remember you, too! That’s so cool that we’ve found each other on CC, haha. I don’t quite remember your name, though. (Who knows, maybe we’ll end up seeing each other on campus sometime in the future, too!)

The letters are out!

It’s definitely a coincidence, especially considering we both got deferred ED…here’s to hoping for good news this Monday!

yeah.
bummer
got rejected today.
lol
but im not too disappointed–i mean, 380 our of 6500–at least that means i lost to about 400 smart, intelligent people!

they accepted 380 out of 6500?? Is that the stats for this year?

sorry i think i got that wrong.
i think that class size is going to be about 380—
im not sure how many they accepted.

yeah…5.8% is a bit scary. Well I guess I’m going to find out next week.

Wow, jayell, you got deferred too?! Crazy! Well in that case I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the both of us. :]

Serenaxcheelam, those stats scare me! But at the same time, knowing how slim those odds are must be a little comforting. Good luck with your other colleges! Is there another school that you have your eye on or you know you are going to?

I believe the number of accepted applications will be in the excess of 900.
6300 applications X 15% = 945 accepted.
945 X 39% yield rate = 369
plus or minus, and the waitlist to consider as well.
At least this is my understanding.

I am so nervous. Why can’t the mail come on Sunday?

Right, darn waiting. Why oh why can’t the post office make special exceptions for sunday deliveries just for us? Have they no sympathy?

Good luck everyone!

Here are the numbers from the last year’s CDS:

"Total first-time, first-year (freshman) men who applied: 2255
Total first-time, first-year (freshman) women who applied: 3652

Total first-time, first-year (freshman) men who were admitted: 466
Total first-time, first-year (freshman) women who were admitted: 498

Total full-time, first-time, first-year (freshman) men who enrolled: 187
Total full-time, first-time, first-year (freshman) women who enrolled: 188

Number of wait-listed students admitted: 22"

Looks like this year they had 6300 applicants vs last year’s 5907 (approximately 6.5% increase).

im with you fa la la lena i seriously want the mail to come today!!!
