I was under the impression that RD applicants would receive admission decisions beginning sometime in Mid-February (based on prior years’ applicants). However, the Cal Poly website indicates that decisions will go out on April 1.

Does anyone know if this is a change in the way they inform applicants, or has April 1 always been the official date with notifications starting to go out in February? It’s bad enough having to wait until mid to late March for the UCs, but since Cal Poly doesn’t have an essay it seems like they could make their decisions sooner. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

As I recall, it’s a rolling admission starting in early/mid-February and continuing on until early April. My S received his admission in mid Feb as well.

I don’t recall what the web site stated last year, but my daughter found out on Feb 20 (she applied regular decision). Here is the collegeconfidential thread from last year:

My son applied ED last year, was “rolled” over to RD and found out on Valentines day
He is an agriculture major, most were thinking that the admissions were going out alpha by major ~

D received her acceptance in mid-February 2010. S - received his rejection the first week of March - 2013,

CP sends out batches of acceptances starting mid-February. Speculation has it that it’s is by major, by alphabet, by college… I don’t think there has been a definitive answer to this question. It then seems that CP waits for a bit before starting to send its rejections. Personal speculation…I think they wait to see how many immediately SIR and then adjust their admissions statistics algorithm.
