RD decision dates?

@LestatLioncourt
FedEx is only for admitted international applicants. Waitlisted and rejected international applicants are sent by normal mail service.

@IBinLux
awwwwwwwwwwwwww thxxxxxxxxxxx!!! I called Fedex and they said there’s a package for me from Carleton…but my friend said it is very likely to be waitlist…>< thxxxx I can sleep now hahahaha Carls see you in Semptember!!! (≧▽≦)

I checked on the FedEx website if there was anything coming to my address… apparently not, so looks like waitlist/rejection for me!

Hi lemming101, how exactly did you check that? And I hope you made a mistake while you were checking and you will get good news…

@ LestatLioncourt The description that FedEx gave you sounds just like an acceptance packet to me. It comes in a 25.5 cm x 33 cm white envelope with Carleton College return address in upper left corner. It has a folder of materials inside and is almost 1 cm thick. Hope you get it soon. Where are you waiting for it to be delivered (i.e. which country)?

@ NemesisNix I am really impressed that you were waitlisted with such a late application. Keep the admissions office in the loop about everything impressive that you do between now and early May. I don’t have any inside info on the process, but showing them how much you want it (without being obnoxious!) can only help.

@ Everyone still waiting to hear. This is the worst part–not knowing. I hope you all get good news soon.

I got my rejection letter today. I’m domestic.

“As thorough and fair as we attempt to make our selection process, we may at times suffer from shortsightedness. Your fine achievement to date and in future college endeavors may well prove just how shortsighted we can be.”

You have no idea how shortsighted you were, Carleton.
I just got into one of the best programs in the country for my major, so I’m not bummed at all. Good luck to future Carls, and for those rejected, you’ll get in somewhere great.

Wow, the above rejection letter shows the difference of Carleton. Most rejection letters are very cruel. ^That one is NOT.

Wait listed here in Nebraska :confused: I guess this debunks the twitter myth, congrats to everyone who got in

God this really sucks. It completely ruined my birthday. I don’t know what to do now :confused: I got so excited about going there

D is accepted today in Central IL. FA is doable too. It was especially great after being waitlisted at Grinnell this morning. By the way, they didn’t follow her on twitter.

Waitlisted at Grinnell this morning, rejected from Carleton just now. Welp.

Accepted today in the Jacksonville suburbs.

Waitlisted in South Florida today. Such a nice letter though and had interesting info.

"Your application has been carefully reviewed by the members of the Admissions Committee. While we were very favorably impressed by your fine academic qualifications and many personal strengths, I am sorry to tell you that we cannot offer you admission at this time. We would like to offer you a place on our Waiting List in the hope that a place in next year’s entering class will open up for you later this spring.

I am truly sorry that this is not a letter of admission. Like most other highly selective colleges, Carleton receives a far greater number of applicants from highly qualified students than it can possibly accept. This has been once again an extremely competitive year; a 20% rise in applicants reduced our acceptance rate to below a quarter of applicants. Many students, like yourself, who might well have been admitted to Carleton in previous years, must now wait for an available space. At this time of year, the College’s small size, one of its great strengths, is my greatest frustration."

Reliving this day a year ago when my son got his acceptance packet from Carleton - best thing that ever happened to him. What a magical place. For those who were accepted this year, prepare to work harder than you ever imagined possible - for a “B” (!) and have the time of your life doing it! Congratulations!

For those who got the thin letters, take heart, don’t take it as a personal rejection (college admissions is a VERY subjective and imprecise process which has a lot to do with variables far beyond your control). The good news is that there are lots of wonderful schools out there, and you will end up at one of them and have your own magical adventure. Your college experience will be what YOU make of it, wherever you go. It all works out in the end, it really does! Have faith in yourselves and don’t let a set of numbers or a letter, with either good or bad news, define who you are!

@ctaylor657 Thank you!, such an encouraging message to everyone out there even those accepted :)

@LlantwitMajor Yeah, that’s what makes me think I might have been accepted had I applied at the same time as everyone else. Oh well; nothing to be done about that now. Carleton’s still definitely my top choice, so I’ll just keep doing everything I can to hopefully be offered a place in May.

Waitlisted. I don’t think I’ll stay on the list since I got accepted to other schools that I’m interested in. Congrats to everyone who was accepted!

Thanks for that, ctaylor657. Congratulations to all those accepted, good luck to those waitlisted, and condolences to those who were rejected. I hope you all have a great freshman year!

Still waiting for an answer in western Europe. If it doesn’t come by Monday I’m pretty sure it will be a rejection.

@nebraskagal: I am so so sorry about the waitlist. I feel partly to blame for ruining your birthday. My crazy conspiracy thinking egged you on back in post #50.

A teacher of mine gave me really great advice after I got my first acceptance letter:
“now you know you’ve got at least one for sure, the rest is icing.”
I think we can all use this piece of advice right now.

YES! 35 ACT, 3.88 unweighted, 11% in my class of 280, and participated in CSSI. Carleton is amazing, congrats to everyone who was accepted! I’m in Colorado, and the letter luckily made it through the snow! Rice gave me incredible financial aid, but I hope I can still afford Carleton!
