“At this time of year, the College’s small size, one of its great strengths, is my greatest frustration.”

The Admissions committee (Mr. Thiboutot) isn’t trying to flatter you when it (he) says this . . . that’s all I’ll say.

I’m not going to flatter or lie to you, either. Rejections hurt. Wait list decisions also hurt. Feeling discouraged is normal during this tumultuous period of decision notifications. Picture yourself a year (or two) from now, though - you’ll probably be studying for final exams, chatting with new friends until 2am Monday morning, and having the time of your life. Will you still remember that rejection from a year ago when you start to explore all that your college or university has to offer? Probably not.

Accept your emotions, but don’t wallow in them. Whether some want it to or not, this too shall pass.

I just re-read my previous post, and it sounds harsh and inconsiderate. I used the word “flatter” incorrectly, and I’m really sorry about that.

I meant to say that the admissions committee really wishes that it could accept all of its qualified applicants, but there are just too many of them . . .

How does Carleton tell you your admission decision? Do they inform you by email or through their website? Cos when I log in I just see my application checklist etc but nothing regarding my admission decision .

I also got waitlisted. Definitely had the nicest waitlist letter (at least of the three I got). Fortunately I was accepted to my top school with a great scholarship the night before, so it didn’t sting too much. Congrats to everyone accepted and good luck to those taking a place on the waiting list! (I won’t be accepting mine, hopefully that will help someone.)

My friend just got accepted! Her stats: 3.8, National Merit, 2220 SAT, and what she called “the most awkward and horrifying college interview in her life.”

waitlisted as well! After reading those posts, I felt like there is no acceptance! ^lemming101: same as you. international asking for %100 financial aid. They only admit 6 international with full aid and 6 internationals with half aid. So… our chances were really slim but I had still hope. Anyways, I am glad that they posted decisions on the application account. Otherwise, I would wait for the FedEx letter for forever hahah. The only bad thing is that I saw the decision e-mail just after I got home. I was taking my Turkish University entrance exam!!! 2 million people take it at the same time, and the exam is definitely much harder than SAT subject tests. It would be good to hear good news after such a bloody-exam of 160 MC–160 minutes… but anyways. I should keep my head up.

I got an e-mail from Carleton yesterday:
"A decision has been posted on your Applicant Status Page. Please log into your Carleton account to view this update by clicking or copy and pasting this link into a web browser:
https://www.admissions.carleton.edu/apply/status"
Unfortunately, when I log in, there is not any admission decision information, just a standard window to see the completeness of my application.
Also, I got a notification from FedEx (I wasn’t at home at the time when the courier came ). Is it a sing of acceptance? I hope to get the letter tomorrow.
Please, help me how to check my decision on-line, I am so nervous and excited.

Congratulations for everyone accepted!!

EDIT: I just tried the “tracking” feature at FedEx website. Guess, what it written there? NORTHFIELD, MN US!!! Yay!!! I am crying :)

AHHHHHHH ACCEPTED! 3.6 gpa (I know), 2270 sat with NMF, and ridiculous amount of interest starting from 10th grade, plus an absolutely amazing interview. I also had some fairly good ECs, nothing mind blowing though.

IBinLux - thanks for your help. Unfortunately I don’t have this “status update” there.

"International students must complete:
International Profile/International Student Financial Aid App

The PROFILE may be done immediately. The FAFSA cannot be submitted until after January 1 of the year you will be entering college. For more detailed information on how to apply for financial aid at Carleton, please go to go.carleton.edu/applynew."

The “verify address” is underneath. I completed the PROFILE requirement on February. I guess they forgot about updating the info on my account.
