I didn’t receive that email, strange.

Keep in mind, Smith had over 4,000 applicants, so chances are that with any mass mailing, a couple emails will get missed OR you could be further down the list in the email server, thus leading to your email arriving several hours after everyone else’s. So don’t worry too much, just keep checking bannerweb!

Oh no, I got an email, but it wasn’t worded that way. It didn’t mention mailing or anything. Sorry for not being clear!

also, check early, i got the same message for ED & my decision was posted by 4:00pm

That’s right…last year RD came out about 4:15-4:30 EDT.

I’m in!! I’m crying

i’m rejected :(

Same here. Rejected.

I’m waitlisted Is there any hope for getting off of it? Anything I can do to help?

Wait listed.

I got accepted! I literally teared up. I couldn’t afford any of my other colleges, and Smith is known for giving great aid, so this means I can actually afford to go to college, which has been my dream for years! :'D

To those who got rejected or waitlisted- keep your heads up. Things will work out, I’m sure! I was rejected to my dream school (not even deferred, as I applied ED) and might be getting a few more reject-ance letters, but there’s a place you’re meant to be. C:

My daughter was wait listed. I am stunned.

One thing I’ve learned this week about Wellesley and Smith. Extracurricular activities and legacy status, and probably money too, are all more important than academic excellence.

My daughter has a 4.6 GPA and a 2330 on the SAT, and wait listed at a school that accepts over 40% of its applicants.

I just don’t get it.

yeah same here i was wait listed but i was at least qualified according to stats from previous years… i’m really confused… i had pretty okay… extra circulars in school and outside too… so i’m just bummed out… :(

i had a 4.2 GPA and 2150 SATs… not super high but i thought it was okay…

Accepted at Smith! I’m so happy…the video was absolutely adorable!!!

To all who are waitlisted: I know that feeling. I got waitlisted too today at another school. Just remember that everything tends to work out in the end.

VADAD1 and rkim12, I’m so sorry. All I can say is that it seems that the number of applicants for both Smith and Wellesley just keep going up and up as more kids apply to more and more colleges to hedge their bets. So I think the “over 40% acceptance” is not true anymore. There’s going to be a lot of shifting around as kids sort out their options. The fact that you’re on the waitlist is not all bad. Write an passionate, articulate letter saying you definitely would go to Smith (or whatever school you really want) as it’s your number one school, and include another piece of information or two, such as an excellent letter of recommendation from some aspect of your application that could be stronger, to make your case more compelling. Good luck and let us know what happens!

hey i’m so sorry about those who didn’t get in! that sucks but hopefully you have other really great colleges lined up, and you know, no matter where you go, college is gonna be awesome.

but for those who did get in… come join the facebook group!

So…where is the onslaught of acceptances, waitlists and rejections? In all the years I’ve been following and participating in CC, I’ve never seen it so quiet on the Smith forum on a major RD notification day!

Mistydog and pinklemonade, congratulations on the good news!

I was thinking the same things. We do know that a record number of applications were received…perhaps our beloved CC has “jumped the shark” among the current crop of would-be Smithies? Hmm. Congrats to those who got in so far. I don’t buy the “legacy, money, ec’s” argument. What is interesting though is candidates with very good stats being waitlisted. This tells me Smith is becoming more selective and attracting a high caliber of applicants. Also, remember the projected size of the class is down over fifty spots from last year’s very large class. So they may be accepting a lower percentage, which in turn could free up spots on the waiting list. Last year they took nobody off the waiting list; this year they might take some…that tends to be cyclical in nature. So don’t give up hope if you are on the wait list at this point.

Accepted! (:

Eeeee accepted! I’m happy because everywhere that has accepted me (cough Brandeis </3) has been totally unaffordable but I have high hopes for Smith The video was SO cute!
