The packet arrived in Seattle, WA! My financial aid package is decent but a few thousand less than Wellesley’s (which also arrived today).

Starbucks – If it’s worth it to you, you can always call the financial services office and try to see if they’ll discuss the discrepancy with you. Wellesley may be taking a factor into account that Smith isn’t, or Wellesley may be calculating a more generous “cost of attendance” than Smith. If you’re set on Wellesley, it probably doesn’t make a difference, but if you’d prefer Smith, it never hurts to call or email.

As a wait-listed student, I implore all of you who are not able to attend Smith next year to notify them ASAP. :)

lotus- Your point is made in the Smith packet. “We would appreciate a prompt replay
since many candidates on our Wait List are anxious to learn if there will be spaces
for them.” Debra Shaver, Dean of Admission. Smith obviously has not forgotten
about their wait list.

.02 David

Thanks bn12gg, that’s good to know.
I’m just reminding the accepted students because I desparately want their seat ;)

haha thank you lotus I second your suggestion :P

OMG my packet did not come yet!

How is it that I only live not even 2 hours away and west coasters have received their packets before me!? Is it fedex or something!?!?

Hmm we live in Ct and daughter got it the day after notifications(Saturday) last year. It is snail mail btw.

I usually get smith stuff at most 2 days after they were mailed. So far, for the early acceptance, STRIDE, STRIDE follow up letter, and now the admissions packet, my friend in FL has gotten hers days before me!

Again, I would not panic. It’s on its way. Maybe the Florida post offices are more efficient than yours If you don’t get it by the end of the week, I’d contact the Admissions office.

I did call
They have no clue why west coasters have gotten theirs before me. They said if it doesn’t come in a few days, they will send another “in a couple of weeks”!

All I really want is to look at financial aid. I wish it was online.

Guess it’s back to stalking the mailperson.

Sometimes the post office does not make sense. That’s probably why they keep hovering on the edge of bankruptcy.

Also in CT and have not yet received financial aid info!

S&P true! Ha

Glad to see I’m not the only one, although I wish we weren’t in this situation!

Hahah my mailman knows me by name because I’m always beating him to my mailbox after school!

“Sometimes the post office does not make sense. That’s probably why they keep hovering on the edge of bankruptcy.”

Off topic, but don’t buy the lie. The Post Office doesn’t ever run a deficit, no less been close to bankruptcy. Congress requires them to fork over $5 billion a year in PROFITS for the federal budget. And then restricts them from competing for businesses at which they would absolutely excel.

It’s not funny when folks repeat political talking points as a form of humor.

Carry on. ;)

mini hits this one on the head. I could tell a bunch of real
horror stories about shipping via Fed Ex or UPS-- the stories
are not limited to USPS! If we lose the USPS it will be a sad
day and the country will change for the worse. The vaunted
private sector steps in the pooooop regularly.

Just my .02 David

Well, my goodness, I did not mean to stir up a nest of post office politics with a simple comment. I was just trying a little humor to lighten CPU’s anxiety. Maybe not the only thing that needs to be lightened around here…

I like humor, even political humor. But this one repeats a lie at the expense of millions of dedicated, hardworking Americans who have helped to make this country great.

(Now I’m supposed to tell a joke about Brown. :))

Well you should probably write strongly worded letters to Reuters and others then.
Including the post-master general. Rather than beating up on me for a simple comment and in a matter that is not relevant to this post. My grandfather was a mailman all his life and I am proud of him. It doesnt’ stop the fact that the post office is a suffering business model, and it’s not just because Congress is forcing the service to save to fund the benefits of its workers now.
