RD Decision

^ That could be a possible explanation for some, but I reckon it’s less objective than that. People choose Reed over places like Chicago, which are as good at academia prep, if not better, and also, if you want to prepare for an academic career, I’m sure neither Stanford and Brown would hamper you (some might consider them better because of their status as research universities). From what I gather, many people feel there’s no place like Reed for a variety of reasons-it’s a co-educational, small, Liberal Arts Colleges in one of America’s coolest cities with a tradition for intellectualism mixed with irreverence. Academically, it offers a more contained environment than larger universities and also has a focus on the Classics, alongwith rarely comparable academic rigour.

@fromrussia do you know when they called?

which time zone?

Who is virgilfan?
Also, rejected from Amherst–which was needblind
Goodluck everyone.

Good Luck guys! If it’s two or three hours from now, it’ll be like last year. You can start checking your inbox around 4 pm PST. Hang in there! Reed is amazing and the one thing it isn’t is cruel. I’m sorry about Amherst, gary7.

It’s okay, gary7. I was rejected from Scripps, which claims to be need-blind but only accepts those who qualify for Pell Grants (which I do) as about 7% of their admits.

Stanford too? ***!
And thanks guys :)

Another mini April 1! Multiple wishes for those of you waiting for multiple decisions. :)

Oh btw, I get bonus cookies for predicting the right date.
I do.

I’m also eagerly waiting for the acceptance email!

I saw something about Harvard on a page of this thread and thought I’d mention that on my stay at Reed earlier this year I met a student who had gone to Harvard her first year, then a public state university (UVA, I think?) and she had come to Reed her third year. I found that interesting and thought I’d share =)

I can’t wait, good luck guys!

^ Yes, gary7, you do, but maybe you should demand an acceptance cookie instead. I’m sure Reed will give in.:p

overdue, I’ve heard of similar interesting stuff which is why think there is actually no place like Reed anywhere in the world. A Reedie who sadly passed away last week, transferred from Reed to UChicago, but transferred back to Reed within a semester because she didn’t find Chicago all that it was cracked up to be and loved Reed more. May she rest in peace.

good luck everybody, waiting for a miracle xD

I’m going to be up till these e-mails come out. I’m both excited and nervous for all of you, as weird as this sounds. 2.5 hours to go!

PS-vergilfan1 has confirmed all of this, right?

2.5? more like 1 hour. Vergilfan1 posted around 2:15 Central time, meaning it should be any time now, meaning I’m dying.

I officially CAN’T sleep.
How ironic is it that I get my first choice college’s decisions last?

Even less than one hour. According to vergilfan1, the decisions will be send out at about the same time with Stanford.
