I don’t know if I got accepted into the Commonwealth Honors College because I didn’t see anything about it in my letter. So I guess that means no? I was really hoping to get in On the other hand, they gave me $10,000

Congrats to everyone else who got accepted, and good luck to those still waiting!

BTMell- if I can talk my DS into majoring in Materials Science and Eng rather than Mech eng at UConn then it falls under the New England Regional Tuition program and then UConn would only be about 4-5k more per year than UMass Amherst. He gets to go to his top choice school and we don’t have to come up with as much money. A win win situation!!!

That would be perfect! Has he been accepted at UConn?

BTMell-Yup. Waiting on FA info.

Yay! We have a friend who majored in engineering and was accepted at UConn, UNH and Northeastern. he really wanted to go to Northeastern but couldn’t swing it financially (it seems like NEU isn’t terribly generous?) and ended up at UNH and loved it there. My S was accepted at UNH with no money at all - isn’t that something? And yet gets a nice scholarship from Mass’s flagship school? Crazy.

Maybe they figure the lower instate cost is enough of a break. Hey, my son can’t even get into engineering at our flagship (not yet anyway)but he was admitted to UConn and UMass Lowell (with a 1/2 tuition and fees scholarship). Go figure!!

Hears hoping for a snow day tomorrow!!

My son has a snow day estimator (he’s such a geek). Ours says 90% but I think it’s a fabrication. I’ll be surprised if we see anything here. Sounds like you’ll hit the jackpot!

My daughter’s Spire account reads "Congratulations on your admission to the University of Massachusetts Amherst!

Your admissions decision has been mailed, and you can expect to receive it in the next 7-10 days. We encourage you to review your Application Status Check for more information.

This is your student center in SPIRE (our student information system). When you decide that UMass Amherst is the right choice, you will be able to confirm receipt of your enrollment fee, view course descriptions, register for classes, access your bill, and sign up for housing. You will also be able to view your financial aid package, check your “To Do” list, and verify your personal information."

But when I click on the Status Check for more info, it still reads Under Review.

I don’t want to get her excited prematurely.

Thoughts?

Without knowing of course, I’d say she’s in! My son’s portal page changed overnight too and says the same thing (and I was able to register for the open house on March 29).

I’d say Ithaca and Amherst are the two best college towns ever!

Oh - and agree with confused mom that checking with the Admissions Office is the way to go. Because my son’s does not have any indication his application is under review.

Ithacamom- that’s a tough one. I would think she got in and just the other page hasn’t been updated yet but you’d hate for her to be disappointed. Maybe a phone call is in order?

For anyone who will be looking for FA from Umass, just found this on their website:

Financial Aid Decisions

New Students
New students receive aid decisions beginning April 1 and ongoing. If your file is complete, you will receive your award notification by mail prior to the Candidate’s Reply Date of May 1. This is the date by which accepted students must notify UMass Amherst of their intent to enroll.

Thanks for this. Interesting - thank goodness we’re all set. How could you ever make a decision about which college without having all financial information? Well, at least in my house.

Oh - no snow day here. We haven’t seen a flake so far!

No snow day here either. My kids were VERY disappointed this morning.
Supposed to get more snow today and tonight. We shall see.

Hopefully any FA info would come closer to April 1st than May 1st so people have time to make decisions. Luckily we are all set (as long as he actually gets in!) here too. Waiting on UConn FA (read that theirs starts coming out March 15th) then we can make some decisions.

The UMass FA release date is not good news for us as son needs to reply to UMaine to accept departmental scholarships by 1 April.

Hi I am glad to hear from most that some decisions are being processed.I still would appreciate it if someone could posibly answer this question which I have posted before. Do yo receive admittance from UMass Amherst by regular mail first or does it appear on Spire first. thank you. By the way stating that Amherst or any place is best college town ever may be debatable . Ann Arbor,Michigan , Gainsville ,FL ,Athens ,GA are also great C towns

Orangewhite-seems that it has been different for different people but lately it seems that people are getting mail before the online status changes.

USNChief-wow, you have to tell UMaine by April 1st if you are going to accept the scholarship? Bummer! Would be nice if all these schools had some kind of standardized procedures. Maybe a call to UMaine to explain the situation?
