whats up with this? i got the scholarship too. yay

My D got in with a $30K Leadership Award/Grant and a $180 Student Gov't Grant. Just incredible, Iam floored!

Two hypotheses:

The scholarship might be included in everyone's fin aid package to make us feel special, or College Confidential is just not a very representative sample of MHC's applicant pool.

thanks for the info, butterfly! I will wait for snail mail then, because I did fill out all of those nerve wrecking documents. Too bad that scholarships limit federal aid... I hope not by too much!
b@r!um: We find ourselves in similar situations often. :) Congratulations again! I have the exact same problem: the EFC was about 20'000, and here it's just about everything... oy.

I got in too! Yay! I'm soooo excited!

Accepted!!!!!!!!! + leadership grant

YAY!! congrats everyone!

I'm rejected..

Drsuyi - I am so sorry.

I was rejected, as well. From Smith, too, so it is not a happy night here. However, I have 5 great schools that I can choose from and awaiting decisions from 3 more (Not hopeful for Wellesley).

I hope you (and all others like us) find the school that is right for you!

thank you JulietSophie..
we are kind of similar, i'm rejected both at MHC and Smith...
and i have other 5 colleges..but i'm really losing hope in them for now..
i'm thinking about applying again next year..
all the best for you

Where else have you applied, Drsuyi?

ohh....i got also rejected....:(

I m sooo...sad!! I got rejected from Smith as well. The decisions came as a shock for me. ....i guess i am finding myself in similar situation as u do Drsyui..

Accepted, with a Mary Lyon Legacy Grant. All things added up, I think I received a really generous financial package. Thank you so so so much Mt. Holyoke!

Am extremely relieved now. For those who didn't get accepted, I do understand how you feel. Before Mt. Holyoke, I had already received rejections from Wellesley, Smith, and St. Lawrence University, not to mention a place on the waitlist by Franklin and Marshall. I was also expecting a rejection from Brandeis. I woke up at 4 AM to check on my Smith and Wellesley status, and went to bed crying my eyes out. Woke up at 9 and got a lovely surprise.

Chin up, guys...you'll find a place that fits you! And congrats to all who were accepted.

congrats to all of you who got in. hope to see you all coming fall.

JulietSophie, this is where else i applied:

Macalester,
Middlebury
Grinnell
Hamilton
Colby

Congratulations for those of you who've made it!! And what nice scholarships/grants you've been given!!

But more importantly, for those who didn't make it, just take deep breaths and think about the positive things. MHC might have been your first choice and you may have cried your eyes out, but in the end, you will find a college that will make you happy! After all, you were intelligent, motivated, and focused enough to apply to such a great school. Remember that just because a college rejects you doesn't mean that you're unintelligent or lacked something. Don't be so hard on yourself....it's just they didn't seem to see the whole picture. Cheer up, march on, and be proud of yourself no matter what happens to you!!

Great schools, Drsuyi. I looked at Middlebury and Colby, but didn't like the feel there. I really hope you get some good news from one of the other schools soon.

Thanks for the pep talk, yepunsarang. The way I look at it -- there are so many girls on here that really want a spot at MHC or Smith. I would have loved to have been accepted. I may have even accepted my place; however, I know there are girls who want it so much more than I do. Hopefully we will all end up at the school that will help us define ourselves. I am so pleased for all girls who are in! Now make good use of your spots!!

Deferral were meant for rejection after all girls! I am one of em :(

Mandark8 what response did ya get from Bowdoin? Now I'm kinda depressed, anyway after a few days I'll get over. I also have no hope on the rest of the colleges I've applied to :'(

Admissions is a crapshoot. Each school looks for people who will fit in with their student body, so I'm sure you were qualified enough- just not in tune with the student body. Don't let any of the rejections you get hurt you; just think that it'll all end up how it's supposed to.
