DD2 was accepted with an Oberlin scholarship. We are leaning toward another school with better aid and where she feels more comfortable.

did any international accepted applicant get their admission packet yet?

accepted with a john f. oberlin scholarship!
waitlisted at wesleyan haha

I was accepted (!!!), but didn’t receive any financial aid information. Should I check with them to be sure that they have all the stuff I sent in?

My daughter was accepted, got the mail delivered on our muddy back road of Vermont! She is out of country as she graduated early…told her via email

elenduiel, congratulations! I think you should definitely call the school about the financial aid, since everyone I’ve heard of who was accepted and applied for financial aid, received both packets together.

Weird… there’s definitely an Oberlin-Wesleyan-Brown connection going on. I applied to all three… In at Wesleyan (early write - hell yes) and Oberlin (happy happy) and rejected from Brown.

Okay, not yet, but I will be. I was just practicing writing the words.

But still. Congratulations to everyone! Even if you didn’t get in, cause I’m sure you’re going somewhere great… Also, Oberlin is REALLY liberal with its scholarship offerings, which is nice… Veeery nice.

Yay yay I got in!

Rejected It’s a lot harder to take because I thought I really had a chance. Ah well. Congratulations to all those who made it in!

I just got a whole boatload of NESCAC rejections, so it looks like I’m going. I’m on the wikipedia page and Oberlin is even cooler than I thought. I still have to hear from four ivies, but I doubt any good will come of that…but it doesn’t matter because Oberlin is awesome.

“I just got a whole boatload of NESCAC rejections” - bananafish9

Yup. The bad news arrived this morning from Amherst and Swarthmore. But we’re still smiling because of the good news yesterday from Oberlin! :)

OMG I GOT ACCEPTED! If money weren’t an issue, I would attend in a heartbeat. Yay I am so excited!!!

Just received my rejection. I can’t say I’m that surprised…between this and the waitlist at Macalester, I’m choosing to believe that this is a sign that I’m not supposed to be in the midwest.

Woo-hoo! Son got his acceptance packet in the mail this afternoon! It’s his first choice (along with the conservatory, which accepted him in December)!

Money is definitely a factor, though, so he’s not at all sure about attending. We can’t afford it, even with the nice financial aid given so far.

I didn’t even realize it until today, but I also got the JFO scholarship. I don’t know how I missed it!! :D

ACCEPTED! With the John F. Oberlin! I honestly can’t believe it…

I’m still waiting on my information from the conservatory, and I honestly think I’m looking at a rejection (bad idea for my first audition - live and learn).

Congrats on all the acceptances! I wonder when do we, internationals, get notified :P

Thanks supportivemom1! I’ll definitely call them on Monday and find out what’s going on with the financial aid.

So I knew I was in already (found out in the middle of the National Portrait Gallery–I was on vacation and my grandmother called me to say I’d gotten a letter–my reaction was very loud and echoed throughout the museum, haha), but I had no idea about financial aid till I came home… opened up my Vassar rejection, then looked in the Oberlin packet and saw I’d gotten a John F. Oberlin scholarship. Bittersweet. But mostly sweet.

(I liked Oberlin better anyway. ;))

All roads lead to Oberlin" on April 10 for us. We’ll be there for the the first April highlight day for newly admitted students and their families. The other days just don’t work for us.
