Hey, guys! I applied RD but got a letter in the mail yesterday telling me I was accepted. Did this happen to anyone else? Any other admits going on the overnight tour thingy in April?

I got that on Friday. It was completely unexpected. I’m going to attend the overnight open house event on I believe April 19 - 20. Congrats on your acceptance.

Congrats!! I’m so nervous now… When are RD decisions usually released? I know they’ll be out by the end of the month, but is there an exact date?

Congrats guys, that’s awesome!! Was that a kind of EW, early acceptance or smth?

Congratulations!!! I wonder what Amherst’s official decision release date is?

can the guys that got in post their stats plz?

Yes, my D got in with these stats: 35 ACT
2290 SAT
Natl. Merit Finalist
Presidential Scholar
4.0 GPA
Valedictorian
Iowa Governor’s Scholar

can i find out on my page if i got in? what would it say?

No, the web page doesn’t change. You only find out through a letter. It comes in just a regular standard size letter envelope but its kinda bulky at the same time. lol I look at CastingCrown D’s stats and wonder how I ever picked to receive my early write letter. Those stats look amazing so congrats to you and your daughter. You should be extremely proud. Good luck to keekaleek and everyone else.

PKWsurf, it’s not all about the stats. Students with simliarly tip-top stats as CastingCrown’s D’s also sometimes don’t get accepted. You got accepted because of who you are. You’re not a number. Congratulations. And congratulations to your D, too, CastingCrowns. My S is a freshman there and he loves it.

thanks for all the info guys!

Man, I really hope I get in. This was the only liberal arts college I applied to.

For the normal RD notifications, will that be online or by mail too?

^ mail for domestic and email for international students I think.

4 kids from our school got early writes, including me! This is absolutely absurd! There’s some other super qualified kids that didn’t get letters at our school, so there’s definitely nothing to stress about. Officially, they are supposed to be mailed out by April 15th.

^ April 15?

On Amherst’s website it says…
“4/1/09 Decision letters to Regular Decision applicants mailed on or about this date. Applicants who reside outside the U.S. also will be e-mailed decisions.”

why is it mailed so late?
shouldnt it be here BY april 1 usually…?

Looking at last year’s threads, most people were finding out on March 31 by mail.

My stats (quick rundown):
SAT: 2340
SAT IIs: 2400 (Lit, USH, Math 2)
GPA: 4.0
ECs: sorta weak, less than 100 hours volunteering, most involvement began in junior year, but leadership and success in everything I did.
Also, I’m Mexican/Jewish.

Werg, your stats are crazy amazing man. I am sure you will be fine no matter where you go. Good luck with all of your endeavors!

I think MOST schools want their decisions in their applicant’s hands by April 1. They have admitted student days/overnights to plan and get RSVP’s for. Plus, to give students a mere two weeks to reply after their waiting 3 months (minimally) for an answer is kind of absurd when you’re talking about investing (and yes, we see education as an investment) that kind of money in this kind of economy.

And since Amherst doesn’t post online, I am guessing they will mail decisions the thursday or Friday before the week of the 1st at the latest. Johns Hopkins actually has a poll going on their student blog website. I can’t figure out if I like their sense of humor or not. :)
