I was accepted to ND early action in December. I am aware that early action people already received invitations to the Honors Program and I did not get one. At the time of my acceptance, I did not receive ND Scholar distinction either, but last week I was notified that after viewing the regular decision applications I am a ND Scholar. I am wondering if there is a chance that I might now be offered a position in the Honors Program too. Do you have to commit to attendance to be offered this?

I didn't think it would matter too much, but today I received my Boston College acceptance in the mail (actually my number three choice behind state school and ND) and I've gotten into their Honors Program. The research opportunities are tempting me! Thanks for the help anyone can give me!

Research opportunities are terrific regardless of whether or not you are in the honors program. That said, it is unlikely that you will be offered a spot. However, you can call and ask. I applied as an engineer (Not part of the Glynn HP) but when I switched to physics I asked if I could be in the HP and they let me in mid-year. Most people in the HP have SAT scores approaching 2400 (aka missed a question or two on the entire SAT) along with 4.0 gpa's, etc. The HP looks largely at SAT score to see who gets in.

Hmm... Thanks for the info. I didn't send my SAT's to ND though they might have been on my transcript they weren't very high as I was ill the day I took them and opted to redo the ACT instead.

PCB is right, the honors program does depend heavily on GPA and SAT scores. However, I do have a friend who was not offered a place, but managed to talk her way in somehow. Either way though, there are plenty of research opportunities at Notre Dame.

Thanks for the info! I've got a 4.0 unweighted, so I don't think that was the problem, but my SATs really weren't nearly as good as the ACTs so I guess that makes sense. Whatever it was, I guess the ND Honors program wasn't meant to be, so that's cool. Still thinking things over though...
