@collegehello Thanks for letting me know! Best of luck to you, I am sure they are still sending the acceptance letters out.
@BeCoolBee I got both, and they are both pretty much acceptances. The physical mail came last monday while the email came last friday.
Any Hotel applicants waiting for decisions to come out tomorrow?
YES!
yeah. i’m not expecting much though
Hey! I’m a current Hotelie…Just letting all of you guys know, lots of people get accepted on Ivy Day. More people get accepted on Ivy Day than early. So best of luck tomorrow! And to all the kids who got accepted, good luck!
Thank you @HolyCheeseballs! This gives me a glimmer of hope
@HolyCheeseballs Also, how important is the interview (I requested but wasn’t offered one)? Does someone with a low GPA and a decent amount of service experience have a chance? Do you know if AOs read the common app essay as well? Thanks!!
SOOOOO glad to know that some Hotelies are accepted on Ivy Day. I could not find out this information previously! Thank you for giving us hope. Good luck to everyone!!!
@collegehello Would u mind sharing your stats and work experience?
waitlisted. is there any chance of getting in??
Spring 2020 admit SHA. (Jan 2020)
@collegehello – Congrats! I read that Cornell extended 50 offers of Jan start to A&S and Hotel students this year. Last year they offered to Ag and A&S. I was intrigued by the shift to Hotel as I thought the freshman class size was limited by the seats in the computer lab. Maybe they have changed the curriculum or added more seats?
I have no idea if this will be a possibility, but you should ask to see if SHA will allow you to satisfy some of your 800 hours of industry employment by working next fall? Typically, hours worked before matriculating cannot count toward your requirement but I wonder if they will make an exception for Jan admits?
Was also intrigued to see that they only extended 50 offers as the Jan program was supposed to have been for 125 or 150 students when it was first announced.
I’m not sure the reasoning behind the 50 Spring admits vs the larger number and we were surprised that our son was lucky enough to become a Spring Admit. He’s still actually deciding as he has another great option but Cornell is his first choice. I think if he takes this option he will most likely take classes somewhere so that he can try to graduate with his class in May 2023 rather than the winter. There are several challenges with a Spring admit, and as you have pointed out, the hours working in the industry before graduation is one of them. It also causes issues with the first summer internship/job as well as there will not be as many classes under his belt by his first summer. Then there is also the social issue and roommate issue, etc. It’s complicated but yet it’s still an acceptance to his dream school!!
